The event had 5 ICBMers and 1 GWSer from what I was told.  I myself was not there, due to getting Mono, the 'kissing disease' ( I guess that happens when you've been with 8 girls in 3 months).

I may be wrong, but wasn't Rhyno the only GWSer to go?  I know Endress, Fisher, Becker and myself wren't there.  Fisher opted to win the Ancestral the next day.

To be fair, the other Ben is playing the ICBM list with Mana Leak over Drain, so it's not really the same.

But yeah, it was a good time for a small tournament. I managed a savage match versus my brother in the semis in which I completely threw away game 2 after winning game 1. I had Time Vault in play with about 7 mana and he had 3 cards in hand, 2 of which were Oath and a land and the other was freshly drawn. He had Oath on the board along with Akroma and I was facing lethal damage imminently. I cast my last card in hand, Mystical Tutor, but for some reason decided to fetch Will instead of just Fusillade. I tapped for it, and he cast his last card in hand, Disrupt. This would have been irrelevant but for the fact that it forced me to tap my Academy for 2 to pay for it. Unable to produce the extra blue off the 3 Moxen in my yard, I drew like 6 cards and couldn't find the Lotus I needed to re-tutor for Fusillade and win. I proceeded to win game 3 anyways off a hilarious topdecked Tinker.

For such a small turnout (at a fairly steep $30 tag) the support was quite nice. In addition to the comlimentary pizza and Black Bear soda, me and Ian got to split the beautiful (if ever-so-slightly trimmed) beta Ruby and a box of Russian Guildpact.

Oh, and I definitely have to talk about the hilarity of my quarterfinals match. Versus Rhyno, playing IT, I kept a hand on the draw that was a first turn kill. Think Lotus, Moxen, Academy, Gifts, Recall. He goes first and Duresses me. He must not have realized that I could win because he took Recall. I went for the Gifts but he Forced. Luckily, that left him with 3 cards in hand and I ripped another Gifts for the win long before he could recover. Game 2 involved him opening with Swamp, Ritual, Duress, Therapy, Therapy. Unfortunately for him I'd kept a hand with 2 fetches and 5 solid business spells. He never got close.

The deck I played was my own version of Gifts that was designed to win either through either Wish-Tendrils or FlameVault. Seeing some of the random Fish I immediately stuck DSC back in. Here was my list:

the funniest part about the whole mono thing was blake had mono at the same time as soly...  I think there is something that soly left out perhaps... all in all the tourney was a good time.  I got 9th from tie breakers, getting me a nether void which i turned into a DCI balance which I was happy about.  He brags about 8 girls in 3 months...  None of which I would touch with a pole...
