Empty Tomb
{1}{W}
Enchantment

Fading 3
When Empty Tomb is put into a graveyard from play, return target creature card from your graveyard to play.

***

It's Easter, so I thought an Easter-themed card would be appropriate.  Of course, it's also an interesting card.  Partly it was inspired by Easter, but partly it was inspired by Hatching Plans.  Of course, unlike Hatching Plans, this comes with its own way of killing itself eventually.  Three "days" after you play it, your creature will be resurrected from the dead.

***

Current Wording:

Empty Tomb
{1}{W}
Enchantment

Fading 2
When Empty Tomb is put into a graveyard from play, return target creature card from your graveyard to play.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

It could even cost just W, and it wouldn't be all that powerful. I think this card is pretty elegant, good job.

Yes, I like it too. Nice religious undertone.

I like it.  You have the potential to weaken it (trigger only on removing all the fading counters) so you can make it stronger elsewise, but that makes it a much less elegant card.

Hm. White gets an Exhume on turn five...I think this is okay. White isn't one to sacrifice enchantments, and if you waste a Terashi's Grasp to kill this prematurely, well, you worked hard enough to get that Blazing Archon in play, you deserve it!

Yeah, you're right.  Breath of Life was cheaper than this + grasp, and in Standard for a while too.

Well if you want cheap you coudl go all the way to Demystify, but the point is that requiring a second card to speed it up by one mana saved is still a fair combo.

This is especially fair since you might well not have any creatures in your graveyard when this does go off (and once it's in play you're reasonably assured that it will go off).

Shouldn't it be Fading 2, so you get the creature back on your third turn after you play it?  Or for that matter, Fading 1?  (You cast the card on Friday, Saturday happens, then the creature comes back on Sunday?)

PS.  I never thought I'd be commenting on a Magic card for purposes of theological accuracy.

Well, if you continue with that idea, you could require a sacrifice of some kind when it comes into play. Just a thought.

If you guys get too accurate, this card won't be made.

I'm willing to cut it down to Fading 2.  At first glance it's less accurate, but it plays out more accurately and makes the card a little bit better besides.  Other than that, I don't really like that any of the changes that make the card more complicated are merited.
