Where: Pandemonium 1858 Middlebelt Garden City, MI 48135 (734)-427-2451
When: Saturday, May 20 Signup begins at 1:00pm Tournament starts at 2:00pm
Format: Legacy, REL1 Swiss rounds with cut to top 4, or top 8 based on attendance.
Entry Fee: $10
Prize Structure:
1st = 4 x Tropical Islands 2nd = 4 x Wooded Foothills 3rd = $10 store credit 4th = $10 store credit Last Place =Foil Unhinged “Rod of Spanking”. Top 4 prizes (and last place prize) are guaranteed. For every additional 2 players above 14, $5 store credit will be added to each of the Top 4 prizes.
These tournaments have been going very well at Pandemonium so they're going to keep them going. Last time, 3rd and 4th payout ended up being $30 after inflation due to attendance. Also, there were enough players last time to run at REL2 if we had wanted to. I get the feeling that REL1 is the way to go for now but we may soon want to prepare decklists and such.
If you need anything for your deck at the last minute, Pandemonium has a good selection of singles... all the way from commons to Power, and most everything in between. Drinks and snacks are available on site and there are plenty of restaurants very nearby.

Man, I am in love with you!! These tournaments are awesome, I'm glad they're going to keep going. I really hope I can make it out for this one - I wont know until a bit closer to the date.
But regardless, this is still awesome.
Thanks!

I think these are great and I also know you took suggestions for prizes and I didn't offer any input but maybe for next time, the prize increase seems a little steep. Especially last months. I mean, our team got the seas anyway so I shouldn't complain but the value differences are a little steep especially when you keep offering such high duals like sea and trop. Basically, 2nd is getting less than half of what 1st is getting if you average fetch at 7-8 and duals (like trops and seas) 20-25. I think it should at least be half. I suggestion for next month, duals for first is fine, then second could be something like set of intuitions or a set of something valued around 12-15. Anyway, thanks for running this, I cant wait!

I'd rather have a set of Intuitions than a set of non-Underground duals (although, I already have a set of Intuitions).
But anyway, I'm fine with the prize set up, especially because I fully plan on taking First this time. I've locked myself in my basement for the past month, working on a new deck that rapes the entire format. It actually has better than an 80% matchup against Threshold, BW, Goblins, Solidarity, and Rifter.

Thats a little cocky don't u think? You are the guy who played confinement last month right? Well, as you know, metagame doesn't always win tournaments. Use xMasterShakex as an example with life. So don't be so sure that your deck will just "win". My deck just took 4th and 5th at a big tournament in new york so im I'm feeling confidant too. Anyway, what I mean is see ya there.

I'm shipping a playset of Time Vaults, Tarpans, and Sorrow's Paths to a friend in the area so he can represent with the single most broken deck the format has ever witnessed. And by "broken" I mean "awful".
Good luck to everyone and keep the turnout high! Wish I could be there.

Hey all, it's Pat, that goblin kid. You can bet your heiny that I'll be there with team Chum. I just think it sucks that the prize structure is the same as last time. A set of duals for first place is a little pointless. People who get first most likely have access to all the duals anyway, however it is a good prize. Second place's prizes suck though. A set of fetchlands is hardly exciting, it's more like a "thanks for trying" and I'm pretty sure the store credit gets the player something more useful. I think in the future that either all store credit or more unique cards (i.e. Intuition, Force of Will, Moat, Berserk, Reset etc.) would be better prizes for first and second place should just get store credit equal to about 40 plus however much the prizes go up. However, I like the tourny, and people probably hate the way I think the prize structure should be, so just keep up the good work.

I'll be there just to make the both of you represent or go home crying. I better represent. The last thing I want is my rating tanking to some scrubs. Interestingly, Dan and I are tied for 55th in the state. But yeh, the tourney is the day after my Prom. I'm still coming, well, at least my body is. I can't guarantee my head'll be there, though, but I'll try my best (aka, I'll still top8).

The prizes are fine IMO, you don't hear people in the big events complaining when they win a mox because "they already have that one". As for fetchies, they are damn good trade bait.

I'd personally much rather win fetches than Intuitions or Forces because neither of those jump in price during extended season. And as for most people already having fetches, I'd contend that you likely already have Intuitions or Forces, but things like Moat and Berserk would be interesting, if less valuable in the long rum, prizes.

Another concern of mine is that the 20th is the same day as Regionals. I hope the turnout is just as high.

Just a quick note...There will now be a couple packs of Dissension given to each of the 5th-8th place players. Also, I am liking some of the ideas for future prize structures. Feel free to PM me with your 1st-8th Prize Structure.

I wasn't planning on going to regionals anyways this year. Support your format! If we can get a high tournout despite Regionals, maybe we can get just as high a force going as Vintage magic has going in Michigan!

Just in case no someone does not know, the tournament was going to be moved and all that but don't worry. It is still on the 20th and I am pretty sure that won't change again. So good luck and I can't wait to bust out "Wurm Bidding".

Don't think I haven't tried blue in goblins. It is much stronger in Vintage of course with Ancestral and Time walk but it could be equally good here. I am pretty sure I'll be running Eater of Days aggro so you guys better pack your Naturalizes while you still can.

Less than a week away. I'm pumped. So, what are y'all playing? I'm expecting a good turnout, and I can't wait to see how the metagame shifts. I'm betting someone comes up with a radical new Combo deck involving Infernal Tutor + Enigma Eidolon + Psychotic Fury + Birds of Paradise.

Everything is all going according to plan. I'll be there early, probably around noon if anyone wants to get in a few games before the tourney. All of the flyers at Pande were picked up by patrons and more had to be made...meaning attendance should be good.

So it is 10:17 pm on Friday and I just finished all my teams decks. Sometimes I wonder why I do all the work. We (C.H.U.M) are very excited and would wish you all the best of luck but quite frankly that contradicts what we are coming there to do. Last time I checked people did not go to tournaments just for the losses. We do send a simple message though... The bun is in your mind... mind... mind... mind...

Final Standings!!
Here are the results as best I can remember. I think 16 people showed up?
Top 8: Life (mastershake) R/W Burn?
High Tide (krzymoose) Tog (spencer)
Goblin Burn High Tide (me)
Angel Stompy (kilz) B/W Confidant
Top 4:
Life (mastershake) Tog (spence)
Angel Stompy (kilz) High Tide (me)
Top 2: (which we split)
Tog (spence) High Tide (me)
(Edit: By High Tide I mean Solidarity, not SpringTide - I usually refer to it as Tide to help the newer players)

If I recall correctly Goblin Burn was piloted by Alex B/W Confidant was Jeff and R/W burn was probably Rob, but I didn't see what he was playing.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the format. I only wish I could have been there for the whole thing. I am looking forward to a report so I can catch up on everything I missed. Next time I'll try to play more than two rounds.
Thanks for posting the results, Urza.

It was a pretty good turnout for Regionals being the same day.
Congrats to Spencer and Matt, though!
Of course, I would've beaten Spencer had I not made the biggest play error in my career. I had lethal storm count, and Freeze'd + Remand'ed Spencer, while he had a Tog on the table, without lethal damage. Thus, I gave him the cards to kill me, where I should've just waited until his end step and won the match. Oh well, that's what happens the day after Prom, and after you play a 1.5 hour match.
As far as my matchups: Round 1: Solidarity (unregged) 2-0 Round 2: Angel Stompy (Kilz) 2-1 Round 3: Tog (Spence) 1-1-1 Round 4: Life (MasterShake) ID Top 8: Tog (Spencer) 1-2
Good thing all members of Predict placed. We are the w00t.
*edit* Speaking of which, when will the next one be?
I will be out of town from June 18-June 30, and then again from July 9-mid August, just to let you know. Not that you need to schedule for me, but I'd like to attend (and hopefully come in first one of these times -_-).
