Got something better to do on a monday night other than win a Mox Sapphire?

We estimate the event lasting till 1.

Most people weve talked to have no problem with this.

Best of luck getting attendence. Unfortunately, no one I know will be able to make it. Jobs and what not. You'd probably get more if it was a Saturday. Hell, even a Friday.

The $25 entry fee is for a near mint Mox Sapphire and so we can include prizes for the top 8 as well.
Checking around this pricing seems pretty standard.

Do you honestly believe a T1 tournament of 5-6 Swiss rounds plus eliminations is going to last around 6 hours? Also, Monday night has this annoying thing with conflicting with jobs, etc.

Who am I kidding, I'll probably still go even with work on Tuesday morning, but it is a really bizarre time to host a tournament...

I can't imagine it'll come even remotely close to breaking even on the prize support.  Sapphires ain't cheap.

So it's Monday night, the guys letting you know about the tourny if you want to come.  He obviously know's he'll get attendance, he's just giving a shout out.  If you can't go too bad, don't rip the guy a new one cause you can't go.

I've played there in the summer a few years back when my friends lived in the city.  It's a decent place to play and I'd go if was closer or could take the time off work the next day.

Well yes, but they had to take me back because it was unlawful.  But the good news is that I get laid off again next Friday.

Good News Guys!  We've had great response from our regular customers and even heard from some players we havent seen in a long time. Looks like Monday is going to be a success.
At the request of those coming straight from work, weve decided to make it a pizza party as well.

20 something people showed up, and I lost in the finals to pat broderick at 3:30 am.  If we were both awake game 3 would have definitely gone way different, but it was still a good match.  We would have been done by 1:30 but 2 control slaver mirrors lasted way long after 5 turns were called, but not much you can do about that.  For the next monday night tournament I am definitely not waking up until 4 in the afternoon instead of 6 am.

Just wanted to give a shout out and a thanks to everyone who came. 21 players in all, everyone seemed to have a great time. Second Place Got $25 store credit to spend. The only real problem with timing seemed to be the top 8 rounds (ridiculously long matchs). The next mox we do (Mox Jet - Monday June 19) we will have time limits on those rounds. Congatulations to Pat Broderick on Winning the Mox and Thanks for  selling it back to us! (yes we will be adding one more Mox Tourney to our summer of Moxes!)
To make these tournaments more friendly to players, you voted to allow additional proxies (up to 5 extra - at $1 a card)

Next Mox:
Mox Jet
Monday April 19th
7PM
10 Proxies Allowed (up to 5 additional may be added for $1 each)

This is a great idea.  Sadly my job does not permit me to be able to attend these tournaments, but were this a couple summers ago I would have been all over these tournaments.  It seems to me like a timed top 8 is totally called for.  Often the top 8 of non T1 touraments are actually timed.  The DCI even gives a suggested guideline of increasing time limits as the T8 narrows down.  I tried to find this online, but I guess I'm too tire.  Perhaps someone else can do the dirty work for me.  Question for the Wizard's Duel, what's your current policy for buying cards?

some americans here are spoiled.

here in europe you have to kill to find a T1 tournament for one, and winning a mox is even mre difficult. Sad

If you want to post tournament announcements, please post in the Tournament Organizer thread http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=20136.0.  That way you can post announcements where they belong.
