I'd assume for Dragon, Oath, and Colossus.

Why seal over Aether spellbomb? Is the 1 mana cost that important? Spellbomb atleast pitches to thirst, is reusable with welder, and cantrips at worst. I guess seal pitches to FoW.

I must say, I popped a boner when I saw THE ABYSS in Kowal's board...

Seal is for Dragon and was mainly chosen because it costs U. I can't see when I'd even be cantripping Spellbomb in the Dragon match unless I had like 3 in play.

We don't need Seal to beat Oath. Never have.

Seal is also better than Spellbomb against Dragon because Dragon has a tendency to run Null Rod from the board.  Personally, I was more comfortable with Tormod's Crypts anyway, but that's neither here nor there.

Re:  The Abyss
I was actually really happy with it.  I realized after SCG Rochester that if I had drained Erayo in to Abyss instead of Old Man, I would have won that game handily.  When you run Old Man, you run in to these problems:
1) Creatures with higher power than 2 (Wild Mongrel, Basking Rootwalla, stuff wearing equipment, what have you)
2) You don't earn yourself a clock.  While on paper stealing your opponent's critter and smacking them with it is good, in actuality you're generating a very crappy clock and not permanently answering anything.
3) You open yourself up to red blast/smother/edict/whatever, which you shouldn't need to do.
On top of these three things, Abyss is actually easier to protect when you play it, given its ability to play nicely with off color mana and drain fueling.  It's also a hate card in black against decks running strip effects, which is nice given my manabase is better at generating black than red.

This particular tournament only gave me one chance to try it out, and while it worked great there too, the real testing came from running our gauntlet over and over again and watching how badly it crippled SS and other aggro control decks, especially in conjunction with removal in the form of Pyroclasm or Lava Dart.

Glad the lists got posted, mad props Scoops. As being the only cripple there and providing a wheelchair for the masses entertainment i have to say it was a great tournament.  I lost to Ray twice that day, thus accumulating my two losses on the day.  In my defense i did have horrible hands four of the five games we had.  The only good hand i had was a mull to four into land, ritual, lotus, grim tutor, so i did get an opening seven cards as i played twister and won a long drawn out game.  Congrats to Rich Shay, and Ray for making finals, Rich winning after a split had already been decided.  To dave and Hatch another top notch tournament, you guys know how to run them.

Thanks, Scoops666, for typing up these lists.

More than one Dragon Top 8'd. I have much fear.

Also, Ray Robillard must be stopped. He has taken far too many top 8's, 4's, 2's, and 1's.
He can't even use the Round 1 Waterbury byes he has won!

Seal was my idea.  I included it because preliminary testing showed that Dragon seemed like an unfavorable matchup for the build of Slaver I was running, and I knew at least two people would be running Dragon.  I ran Seal over Spellbomb because Dragon boards Null Rod, which does enough damage as it is without also shutting off all my hate.

The fact that Seal also hits Oath decently hard is a nice plus, but its main role was anti-Dragon tech.  With Seal on the board, it becomes extremely difficult for Dragon to win.  That said, if I had it to do over again I'd have included Lava Dart or Darkblast in my sideboard; Xantid Swarm is hugely problematic.
