Justing, let me know if you need directions or anything.  I'm probably meeting a guy at the border.

Overall, this was a fun tournament.  It was run well and everyone was a lot of fun.

However, I will sadly never be returning to Canada for a tournament.  We got detained at the border going in and out, and it was nothing but hassle.  I was clearly singled out as a potential drug dealer because I'mn 21 years old, well-dressed, and have a very nice automobile.  They searched the car both times--every compartment--looking for something both times.  Going in, they even asked ridiculous questions like "You can read Japanese?" (Duh, why would I have a Japanese textbook in my car) and asked where my rings were (they found the empty boxes).  Then they asked me if I was planning to sell them in Canada...yeah, I'm selling my graduation rings in Canada....

The first time, they clearly thought we were up to something, since they asked us all these questions and made sure we didn't see the sheet they put on the windshield.  Upon re-entry, the man said it was a random selection (COMPEX they call it, as I have looked up), but it seems too much like a coincidence to be completely random.

It wasn't like a huge deal, but enough of a hassle to make me not want to deal with it again.

I just don't need the hassle again.  Sorry guys, it's not your fault the Border patrol just makes it too difficult to go over there for a tournament.

I wanted to make this event;  but its pretty lucky that I was too hung over to get up... As I would have been driving with a potential drug dealer.  Smile   Anyways, who won?

.. nice little event. Results:

T8:

Peter "DicemanX" (Gifts) vs. Justin "JDizzle" (Stax) ---> Peter wins in 3
Arend (CS) vs. Lam (EBA) ---> Lam wins in 2
Steve "Wolfman" (Pitch Long) vs. Rich "Shock Wave" (Landstill) ---> Rich wins in 3
Noah (RUG Goblins) vs. Sean (Birdshit) ---> Sean wins in 3

Sean vs. Lam ---> Sean wins in 2
Peter vs. Rich ---> Peter wins via concession

Sean vs. Peter ---> Split

Peter nuked Sean in the swiss, however after I intentionally scooped to him in the semis, he was booked with a game loss for incorrectly registering his sideboard. Being a game down, and not being able to utilize his SB, Peter accepted a split.

It was a decent event, however given the long drive, I think I'll have to pass next time, unless we can do a double-event of some sort. Otherwise, it's too long of a trek.

Thanks to all of you TMD people for coming out and showing support. I believe that Jer mentioned that we will be trying to mesh RIW events with our own to make for one helluva weekend.

As far as cheap hotels go, my new house may be a pretty good spot; as long as people bring beer

All in all, a great tourney even though I played 4/5 weiner decks... I lost to Sean (on purpose ) to allow him into the top 8! So I won $50 for going home early... Not too bad.

I'll be sure to post the next event up here and will be glad to entertain any questions that any of you may have.

Props:

These guys for showing up!

Diceman
Shockwave
EverythingITouchDies
JDizzle
Team Olive Garden (Jer, Sean, Vasovski and big bad Jesus)
Arend
Alana

Slops:
Diceman first round bye !!!!!! WTF?!
