If you just wanted to see this:
In total we raised for Roland and Jacob: $343 + a Signed English Legends Mana Drain + about 15 other cool cards and a SECRET POUCH left in a donation box.
Then there it is.  For a complete report, though...read on...

We had 33 players.  On behalf of Roland and Jacob, I can't thank you all for coming out.  Also BIG thanks to Derek Mctavey for driving down with Mana Cookies and Head Judging and Beanie Exchange for offering use of their site for this event.

Prize support was as follows

1st place...Excellent+ condition Mox Jet
2nd place...36 packs...8 Ravnica Block Draft Sets...4 Unhinged Draft Sets
3rd place...Black Playmat and Sleeves(Graciously donated by Doomhead) and 2 Type 2 Duals
4th place...Unhinged playset and 2 Type 2 Duals
5th-8th place...1 Ravnica Block Draft Set
9th-10th place...Tempest Deck box(Donated)

After 6 rounds of swiss the top 10 were:
1 Jeff Carpenter
2 Gary Steffens
3 Rob Morrow
4 Andy Probasco
5 Paul Lyons
6 Rich Meyst
7 Kyle Leith
8 Mike Pise
9 Devin Blau
10 Dave Feinstein

And then:
Jeff beat Mike
Kyle beat Gary
Rob beat RIch
Andy beat Paul

And then:
Jeff beat Andy
Kyle beat Rob

And then:
3-4 Andy beat Rob
1-2 Kyle beat Jeff to take the Jet
(Top eight lists below)

We had a 8 man Signed English Legends Mana Drain tourney(2nd was a NM- Underground Sea)
I beat Travis Laplante in the finals.  I simply took my $15 entry fee back and am donating the Mana Drain to Roland and Jacob.

There was a Donation box, many people dropped a rare or two in it.  One person left a sealed paper pouch.  It was stapled so I didn't open it.

And so for Roland and Jacob we earned

MAIN EVENT: 33 entries x $20 = $660 - $11(Charge Fees) - $300 (for mox) - $102 (for 51 booster packs) - $24 (for 4 type 2 duals) = $223
40 cookies x $1 = $40
SIDE EVENT: 8 entries x $15 = 120 - $15 (Ray's entry fee back) - $25 (Underground for 2nd place) = $80 + a Mana Drain

In total: $343 + a SIgned English Legends Mana Drain + about 15 other cool cards and a SECRET POUCH left in a donation box.

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

You know.. I'll be the first to ask because I'm curious.

What's in the sealed pouch?!  OPEN IT OPEN IT!!!  (is excited that maybe the thief was in attendance and felt the pressure, and is a gracious return...)

This is Rob Moreau, missing card from that list should be a Tormod's Crypt.

It was a great tourney, I'm glad a lot of people showed up on short notice.

Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

I would like to say that Ray ran a great tournement as always, and throughout the event both Jacob and Roland were on everyones minds. People were very generous, and in many cases traveled longer then normal to be able to attend this event and this great cause.

As a sidenote my deck is absolutely horrible and runs 4 maindeck dead cards that could of easily been better if they were high tides, and that isnt saying much. Therefor ignoring my list is best, especially if you care about your time. How I won this event is beyond me... How I beat a deck running 13 cards that I essentially auto-lose too... beyond me...

Overall, well run tournement for a great cause.

I am very glad to hear that this worked out well.

Congrats to the winners, but as we all know, everyone who went to this tournament was a winner because they were a part of something bigger than just Magic.  Wow, that sounded like something out of Seasme Street, but you get the idea.  Just don't put that quote in your sig.  That would be embarassing.

Even though I couldn't be there, I also want to thank everyone to went to this too.

(The reason why I didn't drag my ass down to this was simple...Mandi and my anniversary was this weekend, and I had to work the first two days of it, so I there wasn't anyway I could justify it to her to go.)

Best of luck to Jacob and Roland, and most especially good luck to Roland in his attempt to defend his title.

The secret pouch was mine.  It was stapled because I wasn't planning on being there Sunday and was going to send it down with Derek.  I suppose I could reveal its contents, though they are rather lackluster and might spoil the excitement.  Smile

As an aside I find it rather amusing that every occurence of SECRET POUCH is capitalized in that post.

Thanks for a great tournament Ray.

-Matt

Edit: Luckily I met Derek at a nearby card shop Saturday night and he offered to take me down and help me build a deck.  Thanks Derek

No problem man. It not only helped another member of the Type 1 community play in a tournament, but it was for the benefit of Jacob and Roland. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I actually had to explain to someone why Mana Drain was better than Counterspell. That was depressing...

Then they asked why Black Lotus was better than Gilded Lotus. I walked away.
