I believe MasterShake's loss was to resolved Chalice @ 2, Smokestack, Crucible, but I could be wrong. In fact, I believe he commented after the match that he didn't remember to put Terashi's Grasp in the sideboard against Chalice @ 2, which basically pwns his deck.
There was literally nothing I could do. I will have to accpect that my pet deck is bad against your pet deck. All I can really do is, next time I know you will be at a tournament, I will have to play something with counterspells.

I am still a bit sore that against FFY I missed a land drop, which cost me the match. I also never got to play against Affinity or Threshold (God, I wish I had.) Instead, I get paired against decks with relavent disruption, but win anyway. Playing against Goblins was the only match I was happy to play against.

There was also a guy (I am terrible with names, but I do remember Andrew and Mike) who was playing a build of Salvagers Game with Sylvan Library in the main, and SSS/DSC in the board. In a bitter sweet manner, my teammate was crushed by it. Which made me realize, "I need to stop making my tech public."

I didn't know that my opponet wasn't conceeding because he had a teamate trying to make it in.  I just thought he was a moron, and was being a jerk for no reason.

Also, I wish I would have known that his friend an opponent decided to ID after learning the outcome of my match.  You are definately not allowed to have your friends tell you the outcome of other matches and then decide to ID after you had started to play the match out.  That is very sketchy and borderline cheating.  The outcome of my match should definately not have been made public to the contestents in another match who had decided they needed to play the match out.  Because had they actually played it out, I would have made it in.  Had I of known that I definately would have complained at the event.

It was a fun event though, and I would definately attend another.  I talked to Pam today and we are going to try and organize a big once a month event for the Legacy format on Sundays, to go along with the month Vintage Power tourneys we are already doing.  Should we do them for Power, or Duals, or SC, any thoughts?

From Nicolo's RIW Tournament Report:

Round 4: Brian Demars, playing Burning Slaver.

I start by asking him to ID. He kind of shrugs and shuffles his cards. As we present we are deck checked. A long time later, it turns out Brian had misregistered something about Snow-Covered Islands or Darksteel Citadels or something, and he receives a game loss. I offer the ID again and he accepts.

A lot of people asked me why I did this, I did it because I knew both him and I would be able to win once in the next 2 rounds, and losing a game and potentially a match to a mis-reg is pretty lame.

I think presenting your deck is like deciding to play the match. Anyways, it was Rich's idea in the first place. I was actually ready to draw with him before the match and hope for the best, especially after Rich insisted that you would lose because your list was slower than most IGGY Pop decks. However, seeing that you won through Chalice at 0, 1, and Pyrostatic Pillar, and all other things all day, I was worried. Also, our drive home was four hours, not yours.

I'm not trying to shift the blame or anything, I'll admit we did it, but hey, RIW walked away with both pieces anyways right? Let's not ruin what was a fun event.

There is a big difference between the two situations.

The one involving me and Fishalo:  the fact that we drew was not based upon any outside information that the two of us had.  ie, we didn't decide to play it out until the results of other matches finished and then draw once we knew it was safe that other players had been beaten out of contention.  Secondly, Fishalo offered me the draw, even after I had the game loss because he knew that he had a bad match up and that even though I had a game loss he was still only about 50-50 to win.  Plus, I also think he did it because he is my friend and he didn't want one of us to get eliminated as a result of a deck reg err.  In fact it paid off pretty nicely for him, because we  met in the finals of that event and he ended up with a Black Lotus in our prize split.

.

With regards to the Legacy tournament.  You cannot decide you need to play out a match until the other matches end, figure out what the outcomes are from your friends and then decide to ID.  That is actually cheating, and had I known that was what was going on I would have complained.  Depending on how the judges view it, and the circumstances et cetera, the outcome could have been DQ no prize for both of you.

I am however aware that the two of you were most likely not aware that you were not actually allowed to do that.   So, I'm not accusing you of being cheaters or anything.   But just so you know in the future, you are defnately NOT allowed to do that in tournaments.  Or rather, if you get caught doing it, and a player notifies a judge you could really get burned.

I didn't find out what had happened until after the top eight had started, my point is that had I known I  would definately had made an appeal to the head judge, and it would have been up to his discretion to determine if you two had actually broken floor rules or not.

It is actually to your benifit that you know, because in the future you could get in big trouble, especially if it is a DCI sanctioned event.  I have seen people DQ'd no prize from PTQ's for doing the exact same thing.

And yes I agree RIW took it down anyways so it really didn't matter much in the end.

Oh wow.  I had no idea you couldn't do that.

I apologize.  I'll definitely keep that in mind.

An RIW Legacy event would be awesome.  Although, there's technically one at Pandemonium, if RIW can offer better prize support, I'm all for it.

They don't need to compete. RIW ones will be on sunday and pande's on Saturday. I see no problem with both. As for prizes, I wouldn't do power, nor would I do duals. Somewhere in between, something like "Moat", "Berserk", or "Sinkhole".

I suppose technically we could have intentionally unintentionally drawn and the results would have been the same, the word "Oops" comes to mind for me.

Next time I'll just draw and hope for the best I spose.

Actually, we are planning on having our Legacy tournaments on the days before our monthly Sunday Vintage Tournaments, so they would be on Saturdays. These will hopefully start in October.

However, we will be careful to not conflict with Pandemonium's tournaments.

Keep in touch with me guys.  I will make sure to share any info about upcoming Legacy events at Pande.  More Legacy tournaments can only serve to bolster the growing community and increase sales of Legacy staples at player's respective favorite stores.

Pam suggested today that our first one will be on Oct. 28, the day before this tounament: http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=29716.0 .

However, this is the day of the Constructed State Championship, so we may not attempt to hold a tournament that day.

Pam is very interested in having Legacy tournaments at RIW, but as of right now we aren't sure when these events can be.

So, we will keep in touch about planning these events.
