Cullen Duece, interesting deck. I am extremely curious how it beat CS. Did anyone see how that went down?

This is a deck that is a modification of one created by my longtime friend Cullen Cox. We both played the earlier version a month ago in another tourney and both top 4'd. I really liked the deck but decided to add the green and 2 blue cards to give it more overall power at the loss of orimm's chant and some of the tutoring. The core concept of the deck is still based around Cullen's origional though with the Bob's tops, duress, plowshare and hide/seek. There is just so much versatility to the deck and there is not much you don't have a maindeck answer too other than a long deck blowing up in your face or someone getting a nut draw with a staple type 1 deck. I enjoy the deck because it gives me the chance to outplay most decks and I hate how netdecked a lot of type 1 can be with the mentality of a deck sucks if it does not have 4 forces of will (even if that assumption is right most of the time). The green and blue gave the deck a little more mana stability and the ability to recur all it's spells, so if I have one that causes a deck problems I can recurr it, plus I can recur strip effects if it is harmful. Meanwhile, most of the spells are very inexpensive so I don't get shunted so much by countermagic.
As for the question about the CS matchup, I beat it in the swiss and the top 8 in 2 straight games and 3 out of 4 were pretty good games that went a while. The duece has a ton of hate for that deck and getting a divining top or a bob out makes sure I see it while the witness's bring them back. There was no particular card that did it, just the entire synergy of the deck itself with clocks to peck away at their life. Oh... and seeking out their yawgmoths or colossus in response to tinker helps too, not that it happened this particular time, but it has before. George, the guy who posted the results, played the CS deck so he could give more insight from his end, but basically I have just so many cards in the deck and sideboard that provide answers as long as I play tight. The main change I would make to the deck at the moment would be for the local metagame and that would be to add 1 or 2 maindeck graveyard hate cards. More than likely being shred memory because it can double as a ghetto tutor.

To be fair, there are many people that are running decks built around Hide/Seek and the other cards that make up the core of all the variants (Confidant, Duress, STP).
I think the distinct toolbox feel and control elements are what set my build apart from others that are much more along the lines of aggro decks.

Moat really is not that big an issue with every deck running bounce or enchantment distruction of one type or another.

Mana leak isn't really that much of an issue anymore either, b/c everyone is running mana sources now-a-days. And I'm thinking of cutting Yawgmoth's Will in my deck b/c it seems like everyone is playing with FOW!

I am not saying that Moat can't win you a game because by all means it can. I was just saying that the nature of type most decks can handle a surprise moat even though they were not expecting it be cause so much of the utillity that type one decks run for other staple type one decks can also deal with moat.

I mean, people play Stormscape Apprentice and True Believer in Fish decks, and I never get any credit.
Anyways, should the Aura Fluxes in he Bomberman board be Energy Fluxes? If not, what s the purpose of Aura Flux?

The sideboard is messed up for my deck. It had 2 stifle and 1 skullclamp (dont ask). The fluxes were indeed energy, i may have written them down wrong. Better check it next time.

Assclowns. Seriously, you're like a bunch of little girls. Stop arguing in this thread, which is supposed to be about the results from this tourney, about deck names and who created what. This thread is NOT the place for it, feel free to make a new thread about it, if you're so inclined. I'm going to delete the waaaaay off topic posts, if someone wants the delete posts PM'd to them for a new thread somewhere, let one of us mods know.
Ugh. See my sig.

Ok, the decklist says Meandeck Ichorid, which the original poster changed after like, the first posting asking about it.
Results and decklists (not deck naming) discussion only from here on out.

*flex*? power trip much?
thanks to savannah players for coming
If by "flex? power trip much?" you mean that I actually moderate the boards appropriately by keeping threads on-topic and eliminating useless argument/fighting about deck names, ego, and other bullshit, then you can call that a power trip if it makes you feel better.
You seem to be new here with 1 post and all, so the reason it's "assclowns" is because we've had this deck naming argument before.
I take my mandate of keeping TMD a place of high-caliber Magic strategy, play, and deck-building discussion seriously, so things like useless naming/ego arguments have no place here. If you want to discuss it with me, please keep it to PM as to not derail this thread again. Thx! Welcome aboard.

Whats the status of future tourneys? I come back to Charleston around 9/23 and might be available for tournaments in October.
BTW Glad to see Team Rust repping Type 1. Is CJon71 Spires?

dad!
CJon71 is Chris Bright. The next Charleston event is tentatively scheduled for September 16th I think. But don't worry, AJ acquired Chris Trahan's collection, including several pieces of power and other highly sought after cards, so he has plenty in the way of potential tournament prizes if all continues to go well.

I have been at Ft Leonard Wood in Missouri since May. I haven't played much Type 1, but have had a chance to play some Type 2. Anyway, I'm looking forward to coming home and playing in some tournaments.
