This started out lackluster (first pick Peel, second pick Signet), but it improved with a Keening Banshee.  I ended up snagging a Sword of the Paruns, a Szadek, and a Debtor's Knell.  I feel like most of the draft went well, but I missed some small opportunities to do well.  I also have a hard time seeming to pick up good creatures, although I was hoping to get more UW goodies from Dissension.

Looks a lot better this time.

Quote
Wojek Siren, Mountain, Sadistic Augermage, Shred Memory, Surge of Zeal, Seeds of Strength, Dark Heart of the Wood, Flow of Ideas
Pick: Sadistic Augermage
Might have gone Shred here to tutor for Peel or a Signet. Peel on Banshee+attacker is insane.

Quote
Barbarian Riftcutter, War-Torch Goblin, Boros Fury-Shield, Gate Hound, Sewerdreg
Pick: Boros Fury-Shield
Hm I would have gone Dreg.

Quote
Fencer's Magemark, Poisonbelly Ogre, Leap of Flame, Benediction of Moons, Silhana Ledgewalker, Gruul Turf, Pillory of the Sleepless, Torch Drake, Absolver Thrull, Douse in Gloom, Izzet Signet, Sinstriker's Will, Conjurer's Ban, Ulasht, the Hate Seed
Pick: Pillory of the Sleepless
Did you consider Douse here?

Quote
Castigate, Orzhov Signet, Shrieking Grotesque, Necromancer's Magemark, Gruul Scrapper, Poisonbelly Ogre, Guardian's Magemark, Wee Dragonauts, Runeboggle, Gruul Nodorog, Shattering Spree, Starved Rusalka
Pick: Orzhov Signet
I would have gone Grotesque, UWB likes its early fliers. Also great with Peel, and you end up getting a bounceland next pick.

Quote
Bloodscale Prowler, Ghost Warden, Orzhov Euthanist, Guardian's Magemark, Gigadrowse, Cremate, Skarrgan Pit-Skulk, Nivix, Aerie of the Firemind, Martyred Rusalka, Glint-Eye Nephilim
Pick: Orzhov Euthanist
O.E. always has underwhelmed me without red pingers. Did you consider Warden? I don't know which is better.

Quote
Lionheart Maverick, Burning-Tree Bloodscale, Crystal Seer, Cry of Contrition, Beastmaster's Magemark, Izzet Chronarch, Shadow Lance, Goblin Flectomancer
Pick: Crystal Seer
How good is Shadow Lance?

Quote
Ghost Warden, Tin Street Hooligan, Lionheart Maverick, Leap of Flame, Beastmaster's Magemark, Vacuumelt, Smogsteed Rider
Pick: Vacuumelt
DEF. Warden here. You have two insane late bombs, early survival is key and Melt is awful til you have 6 mana.

Quote
Restless Bones, Runeboggle, Cry of Contrition, Necromancer's Magemark, Gatherer of Graces
Pick: Restless Bones
I would have gone Boggle, Bones is pretty bad.

Quote
Silkwing Scout, Cackling Flames, Macabre Waltz, Wrecking Ball, Cytospawn Shambler, Guardian of the Guildpact, Coiling Oracle, Whiptail Moloch, Thrive, Haazda Exonerator, Overrule, Drekavac, Indrik Stomphowler, Trygon Predator, Psychic Possession
Pick: Cackling Flames
Ooof, I wouldn't start splashing just yet, not when you have such a solid deck going. Go with the amazing white card.

Quote
Rakdos Carnarium, Simic Ragworm, Whiptail Moloch, Vesper Ghoul, Enigma Eidolon, Gobhobbler Rats, Valor Made Real, Nettling Curse, Kill-Suit Cultist, Transguild Courier, Simic Basilisk, Pillar of the Paruns
Pick: Transguild Courier
Considering you took a red card 1st pick, I'm surprised you didn't take the bounceland. TC makes a lot more sense if you took the Guardian like I wanted.

Quote
Street Savvy, Azorius First-Wing, Writ of Passage, Vesper Ghoul, Coiling Oracle, Aurora Eidolon, Enemy of the Guildpact, Psychotic Fury, Jagged Poppet, Mistral Charger, Plaxmanta
Pick: Mistral Charger
Might have gone AFW here. Your mana fixing is good enough to support it, and you don't NEED to drop the blocker turn two.

Quote
Kill-Suit Cultist, Azorius First-Wing, Simic Initiate, Vision Skeins, Riot Spikes, Steeling Stance, Court Hussar, Ragamuffyn, Bronze Bombshell
Pick: Azorius First-Wing
Court Hussar would have been much better I think.

Quote
Carom, Aurora Eidolon, Soulsworn Jury, Enemy of the Guildpact, Utvara Scalper, Thrive, Azorius Ploy, Flame-Kin War Scout
Pick: Enemy of the Guildpact
Carom is better than Giant Cockroach.

Quote
Whiptail Moloch, Writ of Passage, Haazda Exonerator, Delirium Skeins, Flash Foliage, Stoic Ephemera
Pick: Haazda Exonerator
Playing to your 7-mana bombs, StoicE would have been better in your deck than most, and definitely better than this dreck.

Looking at the final deck, -1 Cackling Flames +1 Guardian and fixing the ugly manabase would have given you a very tight, strong deck. I think W > R was definitely the better path.

I considered that, and I should have realized that Augermage wasn't going to make my deck since it was more control based, but I didn't.

Quote
Barbarian Riftcutter, War-Torch Goblin, Boros Fury-Shield, Gate Hound, Sewerdreg
Pick: Boros Fury-Shield
Hm I would have gone Dreg.
I should have realized Fury-Shield was a double splash.  I've never been really impressed with Sewerdreg, but you're right, I got distracted by Fury-Shield.  Dreg was the kind of solid pick I needed.

I did, and actually discussed this on IRC.  I think Pillory is a much much better card, even if Douse is easier to cast.  Because I have the Knell, I start taking a lot of fixing now, so I can afford it.

Quote
Castigate, Orzhov Signet, Shrieking Grotesque, Necromancer's Magemark, Gruul Scrapper, Poisonbelly Ogre, Guardian's Magemark, Wee Dragonauts, Runeboggle, Gruul Nodorog, Shattering Spree, Starved Rusalka

True.  I'm actually not sure why I didn't take the Grotesque.

Pick: Orzhov Euthanist
O.E. always has underwhelmed me without red pingers. Did you consider Warden? I don't know which is better.
It was a really tough decision for me, actually, but I figured that O.E. was at least a solid guy, and more capable of getting in there offensively or defensively on his own.  I never drwe this slot, so I can't tell you how it worked in practice.

Quote
Lionheart Maverick, Burning-Tree Bloodscale, Crystal Seer, Cry of Contrition, Beastmaster's Magemark, Izzet Chronarch, Shadow Lance, Goblin Flectomancer
Pick: Crystal Seer
How good is Shadow Lance?
Probably not good given the lack of creatures for me, although it has the potential to do a lot of damage.  I had to sit Seer out because, well, it's a 5 mana 2/2, but I'm not convinced I could have played Lance.

Yeah, you're right.  I figured Vacuumelt had the potential to be good.
By the way, I briefly considered Rider, but I figured it was way too overcosted for a 2/2.  Right call?

Quote
Restless Bones, Runeboggle, Cry of Contrition, Necromancer's Magemark, Gatherer of Graces
Pick: Restless Bones
I would have gone Boggle, Bones is pretty bad.
I've never been impressed with Boggle, and it's not like I'm lacking playables and have to run it.  Bones can be decent in some situations.

I've actually been considering a splash, but don't have any of the right fixing for it (with BFS and Greater Forgeling, who realistically will never make it).  I figured Cackling Flames had to be better, but I didn't realize Guardian was "amazing"; solid to be sure, but it still loses to Pillory like everything else.  Plus, I have very few ways to deal with something like Selesnya Evangel/Guildmage.

I didn't want a third piece of fixing, especially not when I really only need half of it.  I think TC makes sense regardless, since it's a solid creature.  I briefly considered the Ghoul to help accelerate and fix mana, but it's not that good.

I considered it, but the difference is minimal.  My thoughts were #1) AFW was difficult for me to cast last draft, and my fixing is everywhere but UW, and #2) there's a much better chance of AFW coming back than Charger.

Quote
Kill-Suit Cultist, Azorius First-Wing, Simic Initiate, Vision Skeins, Riot Spikes, Steeling Stance, Court Hussar, Ragamuffyn, Bronze Bombshell
Pick: Azorius First-Wing
Court Hussar would have been much better I think.
I thought so too, but I don't think Hussar can reliably get in for damage.

Quote
Carom, Aurora Eidolon, Soulsworn Jury, Enemy of the Guildpact, Utvara Scalper, Thrive, Azorius Ploy, Flame-Kin War Scout
Pick: Enemy of the Guildpact
Carom is better than Giant Cockroach.
Really?  Carom is good to be sure, but it's not a creature.

I guess, I was wondering if I'd need it to filli n on the curve.  I probably should have taken Stoic Ephemera and then ran it.

Looking at the final deck, -1 Cackling Flames +1 Guardian and fixing the ugly manabase would have given you a very tight, strong deck. I think W > R was definitely the better path.
I don't think it's very strong, since I really am on the low end of creatures.  As Klep put it, it's a decent deck with a few good rares.  I end up losing round 1, blowing him out game 1 and losing two close ones.  Game 2 he got Agent of Masks with Shielding Plax, and just races (boarding POisonbelly Ogre in was a mistake).  Game 3 I just couldn't mount a good defense.

Draft:

Pack 1:
Mortipede, Dogpile, Selesnya Sanctuary, Sparkmage Apprentice, Fists of Ironwood, Centaur Safeguard, Stone-Seeder Hierophant, Leave No Trace, Drake Familiar, Skyknight Legionnaire, Peel from Reality, Mausoleum Turnkey, Greater Forgeling, Trophy Hunter, Dimir Doppelganger

Pick: Peel from Reality

Pack 2:
Induce Paranoia, Roofstalker Wight, Torpid Moloch, Ordruun Commando, Nightguard Patrol, Seismic Spike, Elvish Skysweeper, Boros Recruit, Veteran Armorer, Dimir Signet, Indentured Oaf, Svogthos, the Restless Tomb, Chant of Vitu-Ghazi, Twilight Drover

Pick: Dimir Signet

Pack 3:
Barbarian Riftcutter, Greater Mossdog, Courier Hawk, Scatter the Seeds, War-Torch Goblin, Boros Fury-Shield, Gate Hound, Lurking Informant, Sewerdreg, Faith's Fetters, Keening Banshee, Wojek Embermage, Dowsing Shaman

Pick: Keening Banshee

It is obvious you left with a plan for the draft, but I think I would have gone a totally different route. Let's imagine this one;

1st pick; Trophy Hunter (freaking insane card in the format).
2nd pick; Veteran Armorer (or Twilight Drover if you fancy it... I know I do).
3rd pick; Faith's Fetters

After that you'll have Signet, Guardian, Saggitars.

I know many people don't like drafting Selesnya anymore and it was pretty obvious at this table. But these are some strong signals, much stronger than letting Peel, Signet, Banshee go.

You shouldn't try to figure out the signalling until after the first few picks. Your first pick isn't a signal. The only person that passed you the packs is the store owner/judge. Your second pick can be warped by money rares/uncommon and rare bombs. Your third is where signals start to take shape.

Anusien picked well for the most part.

Trophy Hunter vs Peel was the question in the first pack. I would have taken Peel and let the people downwind from me fight over GW, given that he's passing so many GW cards pack 1. I also like picking removal, and UB has very strong removal. From a UB pack 1, you get BW pack 2, which gives you good removal and powerful fliers or UR pack 2, which gives you Savant, Weird, Pyromatics pack 2. Pack 3 isn't amazing for either color choice, because the removal dries up early.

Faith's Fetters as a pick three is definately a signal. I rarely see people money-draft (only at pre-releases) so I'm not usually worried about that. If the rare is gone, it probably means it was a good rare.

I see rare-drafting happen. You see Bob and you take it at drafts where you keep the stuff that you draft. Bob isn't good in draft, but it's worth money.

I think that Banshee is the better card between that and Fetters. Both are solid picks and will make the deck. Banshee has a 2/2 flying body attached to removal. Fetters has 4 life attached to removal.

Banshee is also very good in light of the first two picks.  Peel + Banshee = Oh wow.
