Hey all I have another dilemma when I win,

The prize selection: I am having a much more pleasant issue in that whenever I win a tournament I receive some packs. There is normally a choice between some type 2 legal sets and some mirrodin block, actually got onslaught last week.

My formats: I am an eternal (legay and vintage) format player ONLY.

My financial situation: I have a job and can buy whatever cards I want.

The value of packs: Rather low on ebay, you probably won't get $2 per booster then you have to pay seller's fees.

The question: What should I do with the packs and which sets should I get (to optimize my prize/payout)?
1. Try to trade them at book value (i.e. 4 packs for a FINE exalted angel)?
2. Offload them on ebay?
3. Sit on them and hope their value increases (I have like 70 packs of mirrodin block, 16 of Onslaught, and random packs).
4. Rip them open sort through them and hope I get a new card I need (I don't own many new cards) and sell the rest.
5. Theoretically, I may be able to seel the packs for like 2.50 to the little kids and they would be tickled pink (This may be a best bet).

Thanks,
JK

Onslaught packs are actually decent ones to crack; you get the fetchlands, Exalted Angel, Goblin Piledriver, Goblin Sharpshooter, and it will fill in your set of cycling lands if you need.  Ex-chase rares include Ravenous Baloth and Akroma's Vengeance.  I also have a particular affinity for the set because it printed Astral Slide and Lightning Rift.

Other than that, I'm not really sure of your options.  You could get Legions and Scourge packs, sell them to some locals to start an OLS draft, but your best bet is probably to get some good trades going or crack them.

I don't know if you have enough friends that like to draft, or you have a casual group of some sort, but you could do fun drafts. You know, not regular drafts, like crap draft (you have to give your deck to somebody else, so you draft bad cards). This is really fun to do.
