Would you play impulse if it dug for 5 cards instead of 4?
This is essentially what Time Spiral's Truth or Tale does.
My question to you is does this card have merit in type one/legacy?
If so, what decks would it possibly be utilized in?

In my opinion, it may replace some of the cantrips in Grow.
Its too bad that it doesn't send them to your GY, so its useless for tog Sad

it digs one card deeper then impulse, but you get the 2nd best card out of the cards, and your opponent knows what card you are getting. Seems infi worse then impulse.

I would play Telling Time before Truth Or Tale, the fact that no matter what you do, you can't get the best card REALLY blows.

not amazing for type 1. However it should replace opt in high tide in legacy perhaps...

Overall, its a very balanced type 2 search card that incorperates fact or fiction mechanics w/impulse. The card requires alot of thinking & strategy. well designed card.

If Impulse let your opponent pick, and made you reveal it, who would play it?

This costs twice as much as Impulse and is way worse.  Impulse doesn't even see play in Vintage.  I doubt you'll see this card being played.

Recent MTGSalvation info says Truth or Tale is costed at 1U, not the 3U or possibly 2U that was revealed before.

We will see.

Even at 1U the card is garbage. An impulse where you get the second best of five is strictly inferior to an impulse where you get the best of four. The fact that the opponent sees the card you get makes this even worse.

This card may look like it says:

Reveal the top five cards of your library and separate them into two piles. An opponent chooses one of those piles. Put a card from the chosen pile into your hand, then put all other cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in any order.

But it actually says:

Reveal the top five cards of your library and choose two of them. An opponent chooses one of those cards. Put the chosen card into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

I love Impulse, and it doesn't see a lot of play. This is much, much worse than Impulse.

This won't see play in Legacy High Tide, either. High Tide needs specific cards to work with. If you need an untap effect, it is unlikely that you will see two in the top five cards. If you need draw, it is unlikely to find two in the top five as well.

Truth.  I would play Peer Through the Depths over this piece of garbage any day of the week.  You will never get anything other than the second best card with this.  Fact or Fiction it is not.

Ok, so there really is no point to this being open still, right? We all think it sucks? Good.

QFT

You're joking, right? This card isn't even in the same league as impulse.

Think about this situation logically for one second:

In both cases you're essentially picking the best card out of four. In ONE of the cases it's four cards that your opponent doesn't get to see, and in the other case it's four cards that used to be a pile of five, but the best card has been stripped away, and your opponent sees all of them.

The best case scenario for your is that the fifth card revealed is as good or better than the first four, which causes you to get the same card as the impulse would have granted you, and even in that case this card is still worse than impulse because your opponent gets to see what you get. Granted, if your opponent is a terrible player the results may be somewhat skewed, but that's a pretty awful assumption to make during deckbuilding.
