New ancestral, of course not nearly as powerful but does anyone see this card getting any play at all? The suspend cost of 4 seems a bit steep, but it seems to be the best of the suspend cards so far.

You have to wait 5 turns to get the 3 cards.....i Don't really want my opponent to get 5 turns to get his MisD, or just win before the back-up arrives.....so in T1? Nope.....in all other formats?  Maybe.

Suspend 4 is just too much. Cant you just Stifle it?

i dont think many of these suspend cards are playable in type one.

Yeah, maybe not in T1, but damn it sure makes me wanna play T2 or just this new block...it sounds like loads of fun, and maybe people will realise how fun T1 is

I haven't really seen any of the Suspend cards that look playable in this format yet.

As for this particular one, there are so many one-cost Blue spells in the format that draw you cards right now that I just don't get where this is going to be played.

Certainly going to make Standard/Block a lot more interesting though.

I'll say it over and over again. Unless somebody makes a new deck that can totally bust Suspend, it's just going to be bad in Vintage. Stifle, Chalice, etc all screw you after waiting four turns for your suspended spell. It's just a simple way to lose tempo, card advantage, and strategy, with any fast enough reward.

Can spells with Suspend be countered by a normal Force of Will, Drain, etc?

Yes. When they are put on the stack at the end of Suspension, they are normal spells and can be responded to, Force of Willed, Misdirected, etc.

Indeed, a russion foil "ancestral" sounds mighty cool to me.

I'm fairly sure you can't Stifle any part of Suspend as it seems to stand so far, as it's a static replacement effect.

Chalice for 0 stops this card though, which is definitely a pain...but any deck playing it is unlikely to have Chalice boarded in against it...I see it more in a control deck than combo.

I'm fairly sure you can't Stifle any part of Suspend as it seems to stand so far, as it's a static replacement effect.
From the Time Spiral Rules Primer:
Quote
502.59a Suspend is a keyword that represents three abilities. The first is a static ability that functions while the card with suspend is in a player's hand. The second and third are triggered abilities that function in the removed-from-the-game zone. "Suspend N--[cost]" means "If you could play this card from your hand, you may pay [cost] and remove it from the game with N time counters on it. This action doesn't use the stack," and "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this card is suspended, remove a time counter from it," and "When the last time counter is removed from this card, if it's removed from the game, play it without paying its mana cost if able. If you can't, it remains removed from the game. If you play it this way and it's a creature, it gains haste until you lose control of it."
So, you have a static ability that lets you supend card, which don't use the stack, so you can't stiffle the card being suspended.
Removing a counter is a triggered ability, so you can stiffle it (which save you a turn before the spell resolves).
The ability that lets you play the spell without paying its cost when you remove the last counter is a triggered ability too... So, when your opponent removes the last counter, you may stiffle that ability and the spell will remain removed from the game forever (well, until someone wish for it or the game ends).

I pointed this out in the thread in the open forum, too:

A Recouped Ancestral Vision has Flashback 0 and *can* be played for that 0 cost.

Update: the new rules definitely update the ruling in the Saviors FAQ.  No crazy Flashback broken-ness.

A link to the GitHub project where I store all of my Cockatrice decks.

Any interest in putting together/maintaining a Github Git project that hosts proven decks of all major archetypes and documents their changes over time?

I think that this card is going to be hard to use in vintage, but some decks way find a way to abuse it.

I think this card is practically unplayable, just because it's a TERRIBLE topdeck, although maybe theres some sort of way to abuse it since you could make everybody discard their hand and have it suspended ;/

Besides a turn 1 drop in something like URphidian?? I think it's no good for vintage. Now stanard, that's a whole 'nother topic...
