Something makes me think that if you can do this at weddings, doing it at a private lock-in would be fine as long as nobody is actually selling hooch.

I was at a tourney today that was held in a hall above a bowling alley/bar.  There were players drinking, and no one seemed to be worried about legalities.  I'm sure there's a way to set things up.

When I start hosting tournaments again, it'll be in my hotel.  This hotel has a bar open every night from 4:30 to 10.

It's not omnipresent, but I'd be more than a little shocked if people didn't get some brew while the later rounds were going.

I'm sure that you can rent carafes of coffee from like Starbucks or other places that are open somewhat late. Sell them to cover the event, etc. The coffee will stay hot for an eternity and players who are flagging a little and don't want to drink or have mountain dew have a great alternative.

I really wish I was on the east coast for this : \

Hello,

I don't understand this alchol business. Why not after the tourny let the drinking begin in another location and for the people who scrub out they can have the symposium at some secluded area where the prohibition of people under the age of twenty one is in effect. In that case, have some reliable and trustworthy bouncers of some sort bodily guarding the entrance preventing alcohol from going in or out, or minors in.

IF and I MEAN IF, a minor gets involved with alcohol, which could possibly result in the following:

1. Police involvement
2. Lawsuits
3. Hospitalization of the unfortunate
4. Plus the extreme unthinkable

If this midnight tourney gets into some mess because of alcohol, there could be an unerasable scar on the get togethers of magic players.

Remember this chinese proverb when contemplating the involvement of alcohol:

"Vision without action is a daydream, action without vision is a nightmare"

Think about this carefully organizers as for the above, it is because I felt moved to state the obvious consequences in fear of the injury of the image of magic tournaments in general.

Ray, when are you going to move to Ohio so that the rest of us can attend your tournaments?  It just isn't fair.

As for the drinking thing, why don't you just go to a bar beforehand, esp. if this thing starts at mignight or something.  I'd rather not have someone spill a beer on my deck in the middle of a tournament, personally.

Weddings might be different, like Church Services.

(For those of you who don't know, most, if not all States have a regulation that says underagers can drink alcohol provided by the Church Service, provided it has an adequate license.)

I have heard of a bride getting arrested because she was underage and she consumed alcohol at a wedding reception.  What a douche to arrest her.

Ok...I'm back.

A few official pieces of news.

1.) This thing is happening for definite...November 4 into the morning of the 5th held in Stratford at the same site that the Mana Leak Open was at.  If something happens before or after is yet to be planned.
2.) It will contain both a Vintage and Legacy event with an awesome prize structure.
3.) Drinking will be STRICTLY PROHIBITTED.  Sorry guys...I'm not keen on taking ANY risks with my freedom.
4.) More details will be up soon.

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

So are you planning to make this the size of a Waterbury, or is it gonna be smaller?  Prize support?  Would it be worth driving 13 hours, basically?

I'm super stoked about this, Ray, and I know I'll be bringing a crew down for it.

Underage Drinking + Teaching Liscense = Not a combo.  I back you fully on this one Ray.  There is, however, a bar at the Ramada Inn just down the street.

I'm down for this, but I'll have to find some source of income to make it there, since I don't have a single dollar to my name right now.  Perhaps I'll have to sell my body.  Whatever, I'll be there.

Everyone who's 21 and over:  Let's all go have a community thing at a nearby pub, or, if everyone is interested in BYOB, we can work something else out.

I'll organize.  6:00 PM, BE THERE.  More details to come later.
