Angel's Grace
Instant  W
Split second (As long as this spell is on the stack, players can't play spells or activated abilities that aren't mana abilities.)

You can't lose the game this turn and your opponents can't win the game this turn. Until end of turn, damage that would reduce your life total to less than 1 reduces it to 1 instead.

Here, at http://www.starcitygames.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=293092 it is being discussed if Angel's Grace can deal with Tendrils for 30. For some reason, MTG.com's Gatherer and SCG.com's Search didn't produce Angel's Grace, so this is from MTGSalvation.com

It has been proposed by Stew (on the ABS.net forums) and leaked to SCG.com that your mad broken opponent busts out with 15 Storm count, with 30 life loss on the stack, when you masterfully play Angel's Grace.

You can't lose the game this turn (key point) and your opponent's can't win the game this turn.

At end of turn, you would have say, -10 life and will die during upkeep next turn (or end of this turn. I am not sure).

Can you Lightning Bolt yourself, reducing your life to -13, and have Angel's Grace "Reduce your life to 1" as your life JUST got reduced to someting less than 1?

Does reduce mean "Change to 1"?  I recall some dumb White sorcery putting target player to 20 life which was equivalent to LifeGain if you were at less than 20 life. (False Cure was context of that ruling).

As a Mathmatician (I am a Math Teacher) I can say that going from -10 to -13 is reducing that value.  Just check any thermometer or Altitude Level for proof.

Well?  Thanks in advance.

I searched for rulings on Worship and found this:

Quote
Q: I am at -5 life with Platinum Angel in play. I then play Worship. The next time I take damage, what happens? Does my life total go down, stay where it is or go to 1?

A: It goes down. Worship prevents your life total from *going* to below one, but does nothing if it is already below one. You definitely can't gain life from Worship.

Source: Results For "Ask The Virtual Judge" At StarCity, Your Keyword: "Worship"

For reference:

Worship
{3} {W}
Enchantment
If you control a creature, damage that would reduce your life total to less than 1 reduces it to 1 instead.

Platinum Angel
{7}
Artifact Creature - Angel
4/4
Flying
You can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game.

I would assume Angel's Grace works the same way, unless any recent addition or change to rules affects this.

Looks to me that you are correct. Play Angels Grace with deadly tendrils on the stack, using your City of Brass and your life will be reset to 1.

Funny...

No. That's not correct. This situation is identical to Worship. Note that their wording's are identical.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

Reducing a life total doesn't make it go up.
