Time:
Registration is from 8:30 AM to 9:50 AM. Tournament begins at 10:00 AM promptly.

Tournament Format:
Non-sanctioned Vintage, modified swiss with single-elimination top 8. Up to ten proxies are allowed.

Proxy Rules:
There are two types of acceptable proxies for use in the Star City Games Power 9 tournament series. The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a extra fine point sharpie. Ball point pens may not be used:
•   The full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)
•   Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols
•   All relevant/game effecting text

When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules:
•   The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied.
•   The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card.
•   The P/T of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature P/T
•   When proxying a creature it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match. In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the subtype. Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected.
•   The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness of the card and may mark it.
•   When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen. A extra fine point sharpie is the best thing to use. A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card marking it.
•   For clarity reasons, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged

Examples:
•   Welding Jar or Spellbook can be used for a Mox or Black Lotus
•   Disarm could be used for an Ancestral Recall
•   Train of Thought for a Time Walk
•   Counsel of the Soratami for a Timetwister.

How to Erase a Card:
Acetone and a cotton ball or q-tip works well, as does a pencil/ink eraser (the white/grey split type) using the grey side. Before erasing the card, take masking tape and tape off all the areas that you don't want erased for a clean edge. It will take time, but it will come off.

Entry Fee:
$30.00 - Credit cards are not accepted at the event site. Anyone wishing to use a credit card to pay for their tournament entry must preregister. Please remember that preregistration closes on the Thursday before the event at 9:00 AM.

I just wanted to add that the "Draft Sets" will be all Time Spiral since it will be the only expansion from the block that will be out.

I don't think I'll be able to get that weekend off from work, so I'm probably going to be unable to make it.

I approve of the new prize structure.  This makes first and second play it out.  It also gives someone who might have been owned by tiebreakers a piece of power.

Concur. For my 9th place in the last Richmond event, it would have been nice to receive a Timetwister instead of 3 packs of Ravnica block.

Let me try this again, after re-reading your question, I think I may have misread it.

The original picture of the card must be completely erased.  You may draw a new picture on the card and it is fine if it resembles the card being proxied.

For years, StarCityGames.com has been stockpiling a TON of playable, non-English Magic: the Gathering singles. Although we recently began offering a tiny fraction of this inventory on eBay, the majority of what we've accumulated has never seen the light of day... until now.

At this weekend's SCG Double P9: Roanoke, our ENTIRE non-English Magic: the Gathering singles inventory will be on display for the first time ever. If you've been looking to pimp our your Vintage deck, you won't want to miss it!

See everyone this weekend!

Best wishes,

Or you're in Europe

Maybe we'll try and attend one of these and a TMD open next year, as long as they're in successive weekends.

On another note, while Ancestral is clearly very very good, having it in your opening is hand is not. - AmbivalentDuck
