I've been having lots of problems with online stores not paying me for cards.  This post is both a warning, and a request for help.  The following stores have not paid me for cards, and I would strongly urge anyone thinking about buying/selling cards online to avoid them like the plague.

Kard Kastle.com owner Romain hughes
MagicRares.biz owner Jim Haffanin
MagicSourceOnline.com owner Eric Horn

I've been working to try and contact these people, but they don't answer e-mails and they don't answer the phone numbers associated with their websites.  I've been digging for personal contact info on them, like home phone numbers etc, but it's difficult.  If anyone is good at this sort of thing, I would really like to force the issue with these vendors.  I need to get their attention some how.

Do internet businesses have to register with the better business bureau?  If they are committing fraud or not fulfulling contracts (i.e., not paying you), perhaps you can obtain some information from your local government.  Federal and state governments clearly have access to contact information from tax returns, which they might be able to give out given the cirumstances, or arrange for contact somehow, so maybe your local city can direct you to someone who can help you resolve this situation.

Actually, no business HAS to register with the BBB. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the BBB is not government-affiliated at all - it's a totally private mediator between business and the public.

Hey interesting thing about Magic Rares! I actually found them on AIM after two months of not recieving my check for $200 worth of cards and after a brief AIM convo they told me they would be sending the check, it was just they misplaced the reciept. I was saying "oh it's understandable I guess." But still nothing, I saved the AIM convo and I am still thinking about my next move.

Edit: I also had a problem with Strike Zone Online, what do you guys in general think about that vendor? Should I have any worries?

I bought some cards from Strike Zone Online once, and it went fine - but I do not know how they have been recently.

Eric Horn has had a lot of problems with this in the past, and in fact he was banned from MOTL for it.

Romain has always been good afaik; I've had nothing but good dealings with KardKastle.

I managed to contact Romain through his E-bay auctions, and he said he would send payment.  There's nothing more aggravating than saying you're going to send payment, because it's obviously a lie.  If he had taken the energy it took to type that response, and spent it instead on going to paypal and sending me the money, that would have resolved everything.  Do any of these vendors show up at any events local to anyone?  I don't really go to PTQ, Grand Prix etc... but it would be worth it to resolve some of these outstanding debts.

I don't know some of these vendors, but I guarantee you many of them will be at the upcoming Grand Prix New Jersey.  Grand Prixs in general have an infestation of dealers, but Jersey is traditionally the largest American one of them all.  Last GP Jersey had just under 1,000 players and roughly 2,000 people in the room EACH DAY.  You can bet many dealers on this list will be there.  I know Strikezone has a booth. They have been good to me, for the record.  The owner, last time I checked, is named Dustin.  He's a good guy.  As for some of these dealers having tables?  Many won't im guessing.  They will show up and peddle their wares unnoticed on the floor, so good luck finding them.  My suggestion would be you could have them announced, if the TO is willing to do that.  Bottom line, if you have issues with multiple dealers, GP New Jersey is where to find them.

My first step would be to swear out criminal complaints against these guys for fraud and/or larceny by false promise.  That'll get their attention damn fast.  Go to your local police station and fill out a report.  Depending on how helpful the police decide to be, you may or may not need to go to your local courthouse on your own to swear out a further complaint to initiate legal proceedings.

I also got ripped by magicrares.biz.

My current tactic is to bother them enough to cause them to reconsider their actions.

I've got one email address: magicrares@gmail.com, and I'm pretty sure magicrares on AIM is the same business. If anyone has a better way of getting in touch with them, I'd much appreciate it.

Also: I think the name is "Jim Hanafin", because I've been requesting payments through paypal, and magicrares@gmail.com is associated with the user "Hanafin Collectibles". Together, we can run the weasely basta*d out of business!

Strike Zone is legit and money isn't really an issue for them at all.  Contact dustindj@aol.com and you should get your payment from them.  As for the others, I have never really heard of them, and I never trust anything with the extension .biz

I'll post what I've written in other threads:

Don't deal with magicrares.biz, they've been awful forever.

Jimi Hanafin
89 Smith Corner Rd
Newton, NH 03858

I had a few different numbers for him. Just search for hanafin in Newton NH on any switchboard / whitepages site.

Email addresses I have listed for him:

Also, the phone number I have for him:

(603) 382-6983

Belongs to a Karen Hanafin (wife/mother/sister/etc..) and is a home phone number, I believe.

Hi,

Magicrares.biz also has (had?) emails at yahoo and hotmail using the magicrares moniker.  I am currently in contact with the New Hampshire Attorney General's office trying to get $130 for cards I sent to MagicRares.biz back in June of 2006.  I first went through the New Hampshire BBB, but they were unable to get any response from them.  I advise anyone who's been ripped off by this company to contact the NH Attny Gen. office.  The more complaints they receive, the better to make this rip-off artist go away.

Sorry to bump this thread (necropost) but I have some more information.

After calling (603) 382-6983 and getting hung up on and then blocked while leaving a message about Magic Rares ripping me off I called the attorney general's office today and apparently I will be the 4th complain lodged against this guy.

Before, they did not have his home adress (they do now) and she was able to link the phone number under Karen's name to be his home phone number. They sent three letters with no response to the PO Box, but with my complaint and with the total $$$ of the complaints now they can and are going to send an investigator to his house.

PLEASE, if you have been ripped off by MagicRares.biz/Jeremiah/Jimi/Jim Hafanin go to this site :   http://doj.nh.gov/strategic_plan.html

And fill out a complaint. Let us nab this guy who IS a bad buisness.

Ask for Pam, she is in the Consumer Protection Bureau

If you have any questions or want to ask me about what me and Pam talked about (she gave me a lot of information on the guy) please dont hesitate to email me at jesuschristmd@gmail.com or IM me at GoodcatMrGoodcat

I had a bad experience with Kard Kastle awhile ago. I will see if I can dig up some info for you.

EDIT: I heard from a very reliable source that he is bankrupt. So I don't know how, or if, you are going to get your cash from him.

I've had the same problem with Magicrares.biz, just over 200$ worth sent in December 06' - Jan 07' that I never got paid for. I went through BBB and nothing happened of course.
