***Disclaimer - I don't post very often in the casual forum, is this is out of flavor, please move to correct forum***

Since my life has gotten more hectic and my old teamates at Hadley have moved on, I've been forced, more and more, to hone my skills and test out new deck ideas on MWS.  The problem with this is that the quality of the average T1 player on MWS (even excluding those playing monochromatic beatz or counter-licid) is probably well below your average round 1 at a monthly tourney.

In trying to make these matches more interesting I started thinking about what kind of deck would be interesting to play, let me work on playskill, and still be competitive against 'good' players if I happened to run across some.  What I was leaning towards was a highly diverse version of monochromatic control (aka keeper).  When putting the list together I figured I'd basically make it highlander with the exception of Force of Will and the manabase (otherwise you're not really competitive against top decks).  I was aiming for a limited amount of synergy, but more to have generally high-power and flexible cards.  To enhance this I decided on a wish sideboard.  Here it is:

'Nostalgia of Womping on 11-yr olds/Reality of Womping on TMD Wannabes v1.0'

(card notes in parentheses)

Mana - 26
1      Strip Mine
1      Tolarian Academy
1      Tropical Island
2      Volcanic Island
3      Underground Sea
4      Tundra
3      Polluted Delta
2      Flooded Strand
2      Island
1      Mox Emerald
1      Mox Pearl
1      Mox Jet
1      Mox Sapphire
1      Mox Ruby
1      Black Lotus
1      Sol Ring

Broken - 7
1      Time Walk
1      Ancestral Recall
1      Yawgmoth's Will
1      Demonic Tutor
1      Mystical Tutor
1      Fastbond (just too much fun with FSight, Will and Crucible, I may find room for Gush)
1      Fact or Fiction

Engine - 11
1      Skeletal Scrying
1      Impulse
1      Opt (open to suggestions, I thought instant speed would be a big plus, usually it's not)
1      Merchant Scroll
1      Gifts Ungiven
1      Recoup
1      Future Sight
1      Sensei's Divining Top
1      Brainstorm
1      Crucible of Worlds

Answers - 15
1      Phyrexian Furnace (cantripping answers rock, see next)
1      Dismantling Blow
1      Vindicate (e.truth may be ok, this plays for the long game, and I actually wanted to stretch the manabase)
1      Counterspell
4      Force of Will
1      Moat (strangely good a lot of the time, and also added for nostalgia)
1      Duress
1      Mana Leak
1      Mana Drain
1      Cunning Wish
1      Burning Wish
1      Fire/Ice

Win - 2
1      Exalted Angel
1      Morphling
(these guys were just the most efficient things I could find, open to suggestions)

Sideboard - 15
1      Mind Twist
1      Balance
1      Deep Analysis
1      Meltdown
1      Tendrils of Agony
1      Regrowth

1      Swords to Plowshares
1      Darkblast
1      Pyroblast
1      Abeyance
1      Disenchant
1      Rack and Ruin
1      Stifle
1      Orim's Chant
1      Red Elemental Blast

(this could use a lot of work, I spent much more time on the MD)

So you can't really optimize a deck like this, since the goal from the start is to force yourself to outplay your opponent.  What I want for feedback is:

1) Does anyone else do this already or find the idea interesting?
2) Is keeper a good place to start for this type of effort, or should it work from another archetype, or even start from scratch (keep in mind, part of this was a longing to play t1 like the old days)
3) If this is a good start, what card changes might make this deck more fun to play or more challenging?
3)

Ah, excellent.

Here's my "Just For Fun" deck that can still manage to beat "real" decks sometimes:

// Lands
    4  Glimmervoid
    1  Tolarian Academy
    3  City of Brass
    4  Seat of the Synod
    3  Vault of Whispers

// Creatures
    4  Disciple of the Vault
    2  Atog

// Spells
    1  Demonic Tutor
    1  Ancestral Recall
    1  Time Walk
    1  Yawgmoth's Will
    1  Memory Jar
    1  Timetwister
    1  Vampiric Tutor
    1  Cunning Wish
    4  Force of Will
    1  Chrome Mox
    1  Crop Rotation
    1  Black Lotus
    1  Mox Sapphire
    1  Zuran Orb
    4  Chromatic Sphere
    1  Sol Ring
    1  Mana Crypt
    1  Mana Vault
    1  Lotus Petal
    1  Fastbond
    1  Tinker
    2  Future Sight
    4  Thoughtcast
    1  Mox Ruby
    1  Mox Jet
    1  Mox Pearl
    1  Mox Emerald
    1  Darkwater Egg
    1  Hurkyl's Recall

The whole point is to feed your Atog and let the opponent perish from either combat damage or life loss off Disciple. You have lots of fun combo-type pieces to play around with. Given the deck's nature, Future Sight usually ends the game, as does a draw-seven. Moreover, the high artifact count allows the deck to use Thoughtcast as a draw engine. And Fastbond and Friends are too much fun to exclude. So, not a tier one combo deck, but certainly a fun deck to play.

Jeff Anand had a highlander keeper list a few years back that actually did well at a few Hadley events. I forget what he ran, but you could try to find his old list.

Personally, when playing random games on MWS, I like to use my Skittles list. Anyone playing a real deck generally goldfishes before it's obvious that I have nothing (barring a Duress), and there are enough bad players that I still manage to go like 50/50 in "T1" matches.

Rich, you should replace the Chromatic Spheres with Chromatic Stars so you can sac them to Atog and still get to draw  Razz  I was lucky enough to play you once on MWS a long time ago and you wrecked me with that thing.

Inquisitor, I'd chuck in Library and try Masticore with Oboro, Palace in the Clouds for fuel (it combos with Crucible).
