Nice to see Jake put my Drains to good use for once.  Lord knows I never put 'em to use.

Phil, I want whatever crack you're smoking.  That deck is hilarious!  I guess Clockwork Hydra isn't just good in TS Draft, huh?  Can you talk a bit about that pile's matchups?

counterbalance fish is a great deck.  The meta consisted of about 40% fish and 40% gifts with isochron scepter in it.  Everyone either played fish, or hated on it.

That pile destroys fish.  Look at it.  Big dudes+4 Rebs+4 Spell Snares=absolute destruction to little blue guys that cost 2.

Snare is good against fish and Gifts.  Against Fish it counters every relevant thing in their deck.  Against Gifts it counters mana drain, Merchant scroll, Hurkyl's, DT, and Walk.  Its decent against Slaver as well.

I haven't played with the deck much, but it crushes Fish, is favorable vs Stax (since dudes>stax), and can hold its own against Slaver and Gifts.  It should be destroyed by Belcher and I only won to savage lucksackery and my opponent's antisackery.  I haven't played the storm combo match.  The deck banked on surprise value.  Everybody knows how to pilot through crucible/waste, chalice, and rod while a Stack is on the table.  How many people know how to pilot through PyroPillar, Ankh, REB, and Spell Snare while getting beatdown?  Bolts were amazing all day because they kill target Bob, Welder, Tinder Wall (which is insane against Belcher) or fishie AND screw up people's Pyropillar math.  As a bonus, Bolt can randomly win against a combo player who let his life get too low to tutors and Bargain/Necro.

Most importantly, the deck is the most fun deck I've ever played.  It is an absolute blast just watching my opponent's reactions to maindeck REB and type 2 cards.

There was also a pile of Slaver there (I played 4 mirror matches in 7 rounds) all ready to destroy fish with Sceptres and FtKs.

Lol, I'll get back into the tournament scene next summer...so for now, I'm just following the trends and picking up the stuff I've missed. Good to see you too, Mark Smile I'm just glad I didn't sell my cards when I took a hiatus.

Hydras were insane.  They smashed face and destroyed Welders and Bobs.  I was originally going to play 4, but I cut back to add another Bob.  I think it was the right choice.
