 I recently placed 2nd at a FNM with 16 attending and brought home that pimpin new life/death... here is my list.

UB Madness:

Lands(21):
4 terremorphic expanse
15 swamp
5 island

Madness engines(13):
4 Looter il-kor
4 Trespasser il-vec
3 thought courier
2 Careful Consideration

Mana artifacts(2):
2 Dimir signet

Madness(17):
4 Nightshade assasin
4 Gorgon recluse
2 call to the Netherworld
4 Psycotic Episode
3 Dark withering

Other Draw(1):
1 Ancestrall Visions

Other control(4):
4 Rune Snag

Win condition(2):
2 Stronghold overseer

Sideboard(0)
I had no idea wat the meta was because this FNM i went was my first time playing standard... and my sideboard currently is a mess of shit that only protects against 1 deck and 1 other deck very badly... so i will not include it. The lack of a viable sideboard is what made me lose to the person who took first.

This deck is pretty consistent. Turn 2 it usually lays down Looter il-kor or Thought corrier and that sets up some madness until they help me draw into trespasser. Trespasser makes 17 of my spells cost less and all of those can be played at instant speed, so if the tresspasser passes then it usually isnt to hard to win after that. Also if the trespasser gets shot i can revive it or another important creature with call to the netherworld. Rune snag is a extremely helpful card, combined with psycotic episode and nightshade assasin it gives this deck a way to control opposing masses.

The one deck this deck could not beat to save its life is boros deck wins or other burn heavy decks because most of my creatures have only 1 toughness.

Im am very... very unfamiliar with the meta so can anyone who knows more then me inform me how i should build a half-decent sideboard.

I'm pretty sure that you'd want to get necessary cards for your deck like Watery Grave, Underground River, some form of aggro defense at all like Last Gasp or Repeal, Psionic Blast to finish the game with, and a couple of others.

U/b in this format is entirely doable, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't bother with a bunch of x/1s and vastly overcosted spells when those x/1s inevitably die.

I currently own a few watery graves couldnt find them in time to play in the tourney tho... but im definately going to get underground rivers...

The x/1's win the game very fast... trespasser is a 3/1 with shadow and looters have shadow also... also no card in my deck is rediculy overcosted, madness reduces the cost around 2 or 3 mana each card... and the only expensive card in my deck is stronghold but you pretty much win off that...

but i dont want to seem close minded... i just disagree with that statement... i think i will try Psionic blast...

I mean, the strongest decks coming out of States are Solar Pox/Solar Flare, Glare, Tron, Zoo, U/G, and Dragonstorm.  I'm not sure if this deck beats any of those at all in it's current configuration.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see how your spells actually do anything.  3/1s for 3 simply don't live or matter against any of those decks.  Looter will connect a bunch of times, but if you're getting Akromaed by Solar Flare then nothing you have stops that.  Glare well, has Glare and a bazillion creatures - nothing you have impresses me against that deck.  All else fails, they just flat race you and they have Hierarchs that matter.  Tron has Pyroclasm and Wildfire - either of those spells simply crush you.  U/G you can probably beat except that they can just get the Cloak draw and break up your Dark Witherings with Plaxmanta.  Zoo you have no shot against and admit it.  Can you beat Dragonstorm ever?

A stock U/b Wizards list at least bashes all the slow decks and Dragonstorm while losing to Glare and Zoo.

Right now, all I see is a couple of really strong cards melded together for the sake of a common theme (I'll play Looter il-Kor, Careful Consideration, Ancestral Visions, Rune Snag, and Dimir Signet in a lot of Blue decks) with the rest of the cards probably just not being strong enough.  Psychotic Episode, Gorgon Recluse, and Call to the Netherworld especially seem underpowered since you're eschewing better cards like Dark Confidant, Last Gasp, Repeal, and Persecute.  The last set are good at a lot more points in the game than the first set.

It seems like you would need a Very good reason to not play the tried and true UG.  You should explain why you would play any madness deal without 4xmongrel.  The timesnap black madness don't seem like enough, unless Bob is so good enough that that might be wrong.   Wink

This isn't Extended; Mongrel isn't legal..

I dug up one of Jeroen Remie's experimental lists that you may draw some ideas from;

4 Dimir Aqueduct
5 Island
4 Swamp
4 Underground River
4 Watery Grave
1 Pendelhaven

4 Thought Courier
4 Looter il-Kor
4 Nightshade Assassin
4 Vexing Sphinx
3 Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
4 Shadowmage Infiltrator

3 Psionic Blast
4 Remand
4 Dark Withering
4 Psychotic Episode

He said himself that he would never play this in a big tournament but that it has been tested reasonably well. He didn't like the fact that he had nothing to do on turn one but that it is a pretty good deck that can easily wreck control decks.
