There is no way you should be swamped with homework in the first week.  Just bring your ass to the tournament.

I didn't actually sleep through the touney.  I worked 30 consecutive hours prior to it and knew I wouldn't get there in time.  On the plus side, when I did get there
I recovered a lost deck and kept someone from being an extremley upset legacy player.  I will try to make it this time.

The only thing that can stop us now is a hell of a snow storm.  PS3 and Wii have already been released so we're all good.  See everyone there.  I'm really geeked up about this one for some reason.

It's an absolute secret... But I will tell you two things.   I'm not gonna pick up salvagers again for a while... Soooo angry with that deck..

And two..

1st-2nd Split: Phil Cape (Red Deck Wins) + Myself (Gamekeeper Salvager)
3rd-4th: Jeremy ? (Sligh) + Darren Schachinger (RGSA[Go team])
5th-8th: Demars (IGGy) + Chris aka Mastershake (Truffle Shuffle) + ? + ?

Someone fill in the slots.. I know I'm gonna smack my forehead when someone reminds me who they were.

If you split for first, why would you be so angry with the deck? Also, congrats Smile.

How many players?

Hell Yeah he did!  Thats a HUGE improvement from the first tournament we ran at Pande, when he got the Rod of Spanking for worst overall record.

I personally went 2-2 on the day with the worst R/G beats deck I could've possibly thrown together the night before the event.  I guess I should be happy that I had even brought it because I had unknowingly left part of my UGw board at home...duh.  I scooped to Spencer (not like I could've beaten Salvagers with RG beats anyway) and my only other loss came at the hands of Phil Cape...hmmm both of those guys split for first so maybe my deck didn't suck so bad after all.  (thinking for a moment)  Nope, it still sucks.

The other two 5-8th decks were Vivec (playing UGw thresh) and Grego (playing Scepter Chant)

@KrzyMoose.  The field was awesome in its diversity.  In addition to the Top 8 of:

RDW
Salvagers Combo
Sligh
RGSA
IGGy
Truffle Shuffle
Scepter Chant
UGw Thresh

there was also

Vial Goblins
UR Fish
Magnus Combo (the deck that almost broke Legacy)
Mono Black Control (pre Damnation.  Why???)
RG beats
WU weenie

Storm Combo made up a solid 20-25% of the field.  I saw only 2 UGw thresh and only 1 Vial Gobs.  23 players total, I believe.

Thanks but despite myself doing well it was mostly just scrubbing out and then making up for it with mad tricks..  Apparently I tricked Demars into thinking I had Orim's Chant when I played him in the Quarter Finals and comboed off before he could play around it sufficiently..  I also once again only got in on 7 points with a record of 2-1-1... Very much less than savage.

This tournament was a blast.  I played uwg threshold because I left my polluted deltas at home and couldn't build my trinket mage deck.  I lost to phil cape in the quarterfinals (obv!)  I liked seeing the diversity in deck choices and can't wait for next month's tournament for a mox.

This is my salvager list.  And the reason I'm not happy with it isn't because I did poorly, it's because I pulled every single game of every match out of my ass and really didn't deserve to do good..  I should have done much better and been much faster than the deck was performing.

I built the deck to beat the threshold mirror as the last legacy event in Michigan that I attended had an overabundance of threshold.  Dryads replaced werebears allowing me to name bears with meddling mage.  I suppose my opponents could have done the opposite to me but it never happened.  They also are more resilient to graveyard hate.  AKs were a last minute replacement for mental notes, basically trading tempo for card advantage.  Misdirection was always gold for me even as a one of.

Spencer is icomeinsecond.person : )

And I'd like to note that the RGSA that T4'd is based completely on a list I sent them a little while ago, even though Spencer hasn't shipped me the modified list yet! That's what I get for my generosity...

Everyone has a different name for the deck so:

Squire.dec

2 Haunting Echoes
2 Graveshell Scarab
2 Gigapede
3 Krosan Tusker
3 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Wrath of God
3 Eternal Witness
4 Pernicious Deed
4 Duress
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Vindicate
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Bayou
4 Scrubland
4 Windswept Heath
3 Savannah
2 Snow-Covered Swamp
2 Snow-Covered Forest
2 Plains
1 Bloodstained Mire

Sideboard:

4 Cabal Therapy
4 Gerrard's Verdict
4 Loxodon Hirearch
2 Sudden Death
1 Infest

Synopsis of the Deck:

Basically, no one likes this deck, because Jack Elgin (I probably butchered his name's spelling, but that is fine) is responsible for it. I Don't know the guy, or pay attention to anything that he posts, I've only looked at the fact that the deck looks solid, it's top 8ed a couple of times.

They deck looks awful on paper, I'm sure, but it plays incredibly smoothly.

Matches and mini-report.

Round 1: MBA with 12 LD spells and Wasteland.

Game 1: I play two swords and lose. After which point I feel terrible about how the day is going to go.
Game 2: I'm able to rip his hand apart and Duress Hymn and Therapy, and then win with Grave-Shell over a number of turns
Game 3: He doesn't get enough LD going and I'm able to get a Haunting Echoes off. He draws land while I hit him with Gigapede

Round 2: Tooth and Nail. Strangely enough, I'm not feeling too good about this.

Game 1: I Duress and Hymn relevant cards, Vindicate lands and then kill with a creature.
Game 2: Duress -> Hymn -> Eternal Witness -> Hymn -> Haunting Echoes. I kill with Gigapede over the next few turns.

Round 3: R/w Burn - Jesus Christ, I'm never going to catch a break.

Game 1: I fiddle with things like Wrath of God, Pernicious Deed and Swords while he Lava Spikes me.
Game 2: I bring in 12 cards, and he loudly complains that I'm drawing into everything I need (2 Verdicts and a Hirearch) I play Haunting Echoes and he gets excited that his deck is being thinned so he can get to Incinerate and Helix easier. After the game he realizes that his deck was probably being thinned in a bad way.
Game 3: I have another 'stupid good' hand against his deck, as I Duress, Therapy, Duress, and then play a couple of Hirearchs that beat him to death. I play another Echoes which this time, he isn't happy about. I win with a bit more room this time. Gerrard's Verdict is the stuff.

Round 4: B/r Aggro Control, lots of Discard, the Rack and Storm World. Another Match I'm not happy about

Game 1: I go down to about 4 off all his stuff before I'm able to stabilize and seize control of the board. Haunting Echoes gets rid of all of his removal and discard, so I don't need to worry about either.
Game 2: It takes him a bit to start ripping my hand apart. This time, I have an early Top to lend me a hand. I get another Echoes off this game, I think he concedes to it.

Top 8: RGSA - The first match of the day I'm happy about

Game 1: I easily win game 1 after I echoes away all of his relevant creatures.
Game 2: I screw up an early Duress, allowing him to simply replay the card I'm worried about off a vialed Witness. I'm never able to sweep the board.
Game 3: I get stuck, after a mulligan on a one-land hand. It stays that way for the next few turns. I nearly come back to win, but I'm a turn behind where I need to be. Needle on Deed screws me up again.

And that's all there is to say about that.

Thanks for the report man..   You definately hit all the players I didn't wanna see so thanks for taking care of all that discard for me Wink..

I aplogize for not having a tourney report but I'll at least give you a breakdown of how my day went..

Round 1: Sam playing B/r Discard.
The deck runs The Rack, Storm World, and Nezumi Shortfang to kill and pretty much stomps on Thresh, Gobbos and Solidarity.. (Yes we have tested that.)  He beats me like a little biatch.
0-1

Round 2: Marcel playing 43Land.dec
He brings me down to 3 each game then I combo, I shouldn't have won either game.
1-1

Round 3: Dan playing RG Beatzzzzzz                             z
He scoops to me.
2-1

Round 4: Darren playing RGSA.
Second friend I have to play today, we draw on a hunch.
2-1-1

Top 8:
Quarters: Brian Demars playing IGGy.
As far as I can remember game 1 I rape his hand and he only sees acceleration (no business spells) until I combo.
Game 2 he plays around Orim's Chant which I am not running and I topdeck the following in order: Salvager, LED, Pyrite spellbomb.

Semis: Jeremy playing Sligh
Pretty much the only solid wins for me all day.  I kill him when I'm at 9 and 3 life respectively games 1 and 2.

Finals: I split with Phil Cape who is running RDW.

As you can see.. I didn't exactly "kickass" with my deck.. It really just "got by".  That really isn't acceptable in my eyes.  (Though slipping into the 8th seed is rather savage.)

This is what I played.

4 LED
4 Lotus Petal
4 Dark Ritual
4 Cabal Ritual
3 Leyline of the Void
3 Mental Note

3 Xantid Swarm
2 Chain of Vapor

4 Infernal Tutor
3 Ill Gotten Gains
2 Mystical Tutor
4 Brainstorm

1 Tendrils of Agony
4 Chrome Mox
4 Polluted Delta
4 Bloodstained mire
3 Underground Sea
1 Swamp
1 Island
2 Bayou

Sideboard

2 Force of Will
1 Chain of Vapor
3 Hurkyls recall

1 Leyline of the Void
1 Tendrils of Agony
3 Carpet of Flowers
2 Massacure
2 Elvish Spirit Guide

I was undefeated until I played Spencer in the top eight.  I convinced myself that he had to have Orim's Chant in his hand because he was just sitting there and not doing anything.  But apparently, he didn't even have the card in his deck.  I could have killed him on the next turn with Force of Will back up, but he actually mised the last piece of his combo and killed me instead!  The biggest kicker was that he didn't even have Chants in his board to bring in.  Oh well, it was a pretty fun event.  I got to swarm many an unfortunate individual.  MD insects were awesome all day long.
