In a couple of weeks I will be introducing a friend to this game, and I'll be starting all new characters. I let all of my accounts expire about three years ago, with them all my MF setups and awesome gear. I had multiple of every important item, like windforce, oculus, tons of sojs, a .08 Valor (and I feel stupid that I let it get deleted). I'd prefer to be on USEast but we can start on West if necessary.

I could use any of the following things:

- Items, charms, or gold to help starting, mid-level, and possibly high-level characters.
- A rush for waypoints and exp to any point in the game.
- Party members who want to play with us!

If you are interested or can help me out at all, please let me know! I'd be happy to give up drops or whatever else you want in exchange for this service.

Man I loved that game.  I had a crazy necromancer, he was an auramancer, so he was specced summoning with a bunch of runeword gear that gave him auras

I had like might, fanatasism, thorns, spirit of the barbs, and I had enigma so I could teleport around.  I used to solo8 player hell bail with a mob of summons and skeletons

the build was awesome but completely gear dependant.  you needed bramble for your might merc, enigma, the club runeword that gave you fanatasims, the ring that gave you spirit of the barbs, then like zillions of + all skill/summoning skill stuff so that you had a big enough army.

I really wish they would have given us a necromancer class in world of warcraft, the warlock is more like a mage with a pet, I want to swing into battle with an army of undead again.

Yeah, I somehow lost 1.5 years of my life in the time vortex known as Diablo 2. I think I ended up with 4 characters over level 80. My absolute favorite being my lvl 84 Martial Arts Assassin. Good times.

I think I have some screen captures re: her awesomeness around here somewhere.

The sorc I just started on Sunday is up to lvl 85, but she can't survive hell MF runs because I have no good gear for her. I played from the game's release until 1.09, and of course the new stuff in 1.10 and 1.11 is insane. I'm hoping to get some good drops so I can trade into occy/shako.

I played this game back in 2003 or something, back when I was a nerd.  I am no longer a nerd.

Ok, I've managed to get around 400% MF on my meteor sorc, but my merc gear sucks so I can't do lots of hell runs yet. I know there are a couple of d2 players with nice stuff so if anyone has an ETH CV or a 4OS AP, I can try to trade for them. (Those are for infinity and chains of honor).

Also, I need ideas for my merc helm. I'm thinking about CoA with two facets, but that will be hard to put together and may not be worth it.

Eth Andys. Since you want to use infinity (btw, go lightning, not fire), your merc is going to need 200str. He won't have that on his own until lvl93. (IIRC).
On a sidenote: I started playing again a few weeks ago (like 3) with some friends, and since it is really easy to get all the nuts stuff, I'm pretty much back up to full strenght. I'm on Europe realm this time around though.

I have a question about infinity and facets - do the res reductions apply only for the wielder, or for everyone?

If they apply for everyone, is the extra -50% res really worth having such a low-damage skill for the main MF weapon? There are skills that do much more dmg and are strong with lvl12 conviction and facets.

One last question - would andy's boost the aura to -95%?

So, tonight I made an AP CoH (900 def), CA Infinity (650 dmg), and traded for a low storch. Time for bed!

To dredge up an old topic, I started playing again recently, USEast Ladder. Anyone still around?

I unfortunately forgot to log in for 3 months or however long it was and lost allll my stuff on two accounts - 500MF, enigmas, BOTDs, etc, etc.

I could be very quickly convinced to start playing again though.

This game is the killer of freedom and dignity, I can't believe people still play this game.

You missed a great opportunity.  With your avatar being Andrew Ryan and everything, you should have said something like, "A man chooses.  A slave plays Diablo II."

Is Diablo still being played? I thought everyone would have switched to WoW by now. Perhaps I will start playing again when this crazy period at school ends.

Another question, are all the bugs fixed? Like duping and those crazy Mephisto bots and such. Those bugs actually made me quit.

True, true

Like 99% of all civilization, I once played Diablo 2.  I played for like 2 years and it was a lot of fun, but it almost ruined me as much as WoW did.  I think the only reason I stuck with the game was because it had a very good pvp community, otherwise, all the single player bullshit was boring as hell.  HAY GUYS, LETS DO SOME MORE COW RUNS!

Edit: Yes, the bots and stuff were absolutely ridiculous.  I always used maphack for grinding because frankly, grinding blows.  I should have ran bots like my friends did, leave your game on overnight and wake up to Windforces, Shakos, and other ridiculous stuff.

So guys can you answer my question, are there still so many bots otherwise I'm going to buy the game again. I always enjoyed it a lot, but I really hated those bots and dupes.

Not so much dupes, but there are bots. People using the bots to run baal don't seem to really be stopped, however several people I know using bots to do meph or whatnot have been.

For anyone wanting to start again, ladder reset next tuesday, though I'm personally undecided with what I'll do.

There aren't so many dupes, but from what I recall, they still have the same economy that they implemented to deal with duping.  I've never seen a Stone of Jordan in my life, despite needing what, like 12 of them to do any really fun crafting.
