In a couple of weeks I will be introducing a friend to this game, and I'll be starting all new characters.

I could use any of the following things:

- Items, charms, or gold to help starting, mid-level, and possibly high-level characters.
- A rush for waypoints and exp to any point in the game.

You're introducing a friend, to the game, and you want to basically skip all the storyline and interest in the game, and just start at the point where it's all gone stale and just cow run/Baal hunt/MF for the rest of time?  I guess you never watch porn without fast forward too...

Admittedly just reading the thread has me lamenting allowing my lvl 94 Charged Bolt Sorceress to expire...

To those of you wanting to play D2 but not wanting to play quite the exact same thing again: I recommend this.

I'm really tempted to try this, after seeing the D3 trailer im in the process of reinstalling d2x, albeit I'm questioning whether or not to try this mod.

The mod is pretty badass. They fix a lot of the things that I hated about Diablo 2.

1) Mono-elemental Sorcs are no longer boned by immunities.
2) You can remove stuff from a socketed item.
3) Crafting is actually useful.
4) They fixed the price for Gambling Rings and Amulets.
5) You have some actual space.
6) You have a shared stash, so you no longer have issues with transferring items in single player. You have no idea how many times that I get some ridiculous other-class-only item and I can't do squat with it.
7) You can actually change your build midway through the game, so you don't spend your first 10 skills buying prereqs and hording for later. It also helps if you want to be a Javazon, but you find an awesome bow.
8) The Act 2 Mercenary is no longer the only one worth having.

Can you use characters from your real battle.net account, or have to fully start up on this? I'm just concerned about running .exe mods n stuff.

You have to start clean, but that isn't nearly as bad as it sounds because leveling up, finding sets/uniques, and creating powerful items is MUCH faster. I started a sorceress and have played maybe a grand total of twelve hours. She's over level sixty with zero twinking or rushing and is fully equipped with sets/uniques. They weren't kidding about item drops being better. On the other hand, the difficulty has been significantly increased; I'm having a hard time getting through the last two acts of nightmare in a single-player game, where a character with similar stats in LoD would have absolutely steamrolled the same locations.

It does modify your D2 directory, so if you install it, I highly advise backing up your directory first.

Apollyon: How aren't mono-elemental sorcs boned by immunities? From my experience you're still forced to double-tree unless your merc is good enough to deal with immunes.

Town Portal away, and when you come back, you can throw around an element that they aren't immune to.

I'm gonna install it tonight. Do I need to be a goon to hop on the realm, or does that matter?

Im contemplating getting on that goonrealm, but I haven't read much about it.  It does seem really sweet though.
