So can I opt not to untap it--is that optional?  Oh, and just if "destroys all artifacts" didn't tip you off, you get reminder text that disk kills itself.

German Limited Disk:

Nevinyrral's Wunderscheibe

: Vernichtet alle Kreaturen, Verzauberungen und Artefakte im Spiel einschließlich sich selbst. Nevinyral's Zauberscheibe kommt getappt ins Spiel, kann aber ganz normal enttappt werden.

The important part is: the name of the card is "Nevinyrral's Wunderscheibe" (Nevinyrral's Disk of Wonders), but it is referred to as "Nevinyral's Zauberscheibe" (Nevinyral's Disk of Spells). Most german-limited cards have such errors because a lot were rather indirectly translated.

The german word for "sorcery" is "Hexerei", but in german limited, it's "Verhexung", a really obscure word.


By the way, the German "The hive" has an even longer text:

5, Tap: Schafft eine Riesenwespe, eine 1/1 Flugkreatur. Symbolisiere die Wespen durch Spielmarken und stelle sicher, dass klar hervorgeht, wann eine Wespe getappt wird. Wespen können während des Zuges, in der sie geschaffen wurden, nicht angreifen. Behandle die Wespen wie Artefaktkreaturen. The bolded part means: "Only exception:".

I remember the first time i read icy manipulator....OMG 1 mana for each thing i want to tap!

Well, the German one I posted doesn't need to tap (there were no "mono artifacts" anymore), so it can be activated right away with 5 mana untapped. Better Deed, I guess.

Unless I understand old skool artifacts incorrectly, you can use it as a mana sink.

Mono means that you have to tap it to use the ability, and since tap is a cost, i'd have to assume that you can't just dump 1 billion mana into it (and i'm unsure why you'd want to do that, except for mana burn ofcourse)

According to Asi, the german version wasn't a mono artifact...so you could basicly blow it up tapped or not, and sink a billion mana into it, if you really wanted to

Hmm, yeah, could be. I never totally understood the whole mono/poly thing. But anyway: yeah, mana burn is exactly what I was thinking about. I didn't say it was a WHOLE lot better, mind you It's just that, mana sink > no mana sink, everything else being equal. Hence, strictly better. But you could well be right.

German limited Kormus Bell is:

Handle so, als ob alle Sümpfe im Spiel 1/1 Kreaturen seien. Sie können jetzt verzaubert, vernichtet, etc. werden. Tappst Du die Kormusglocke erhältst Du entweder Mana, oder kannst das Artefakt zum Angriff einsetzen.

Translation would be: Treat every swamp in play as if it was a 1/1 creature. They can now be enchanted, buried, and so forth. When you tap Kormus Bell, you get either Mana, or you can use the Artifact to attack.


Basically, it seems that the Bell was a swamp as well, which doesn't make much sense.

4th edition German Stone Giants could target opposing creatures as well; I've been beaten by their awesome ability so often... (good times  ).
