another good event, though we started very late waiting for people to get off work.
top 4 1/2 Kevin Brewer RBstax 1/2 Jacob Riehm hide-seek.dec 3/4 Robert Vroman RBstax 3/4 Josh Smith manaless ichorid
I played relatively terrible. I missed key plays in several matches. usually I immediately notice when Ive misplayed, but this time I had things pointed out to me after the fact. I blame this on too many energy drinks and complete lack of food all day. overall Im not that impressed w RBstax. It lacks the overpowering feel of a dedicated prison deck. tutors are really cool though. I might try 4-5c uba.

Are you finding that your skill came into play extremely often, and that when you played correctly, you were rewarded with wins (don't consider the excitement of the wins ), and punished with losses for even small mistakes?

I was just kind of out of it and jittery and did things like: vs UW fish my board = badland, factory, waste. enemy has plains, vial@2, and kataki. I draw d-tutor and cast it via badland+waste. I get stripmine, but due to some torturous logic, I just lay the stripmine and pass, thinking I need the mana to activate factory to block kataki. obviously if I immediately strip his plains, he loses the vial next turn, and who cares if he attacks me for 2. this didnt even occur to me, and his vial made the game much more dificult bc he kept drawing jotun grunts while stuck on one land. I believe I still won that game, but it lasted way longer than it should. another game I played smokestack w only 4 mana and resistor on board, which went unnoticed by both players. vs jacob I activated bazaar mainphase against an enemy Jgrunt which otherwise would have starved. I punted in the top 4 against kevin brewer trying to play around his welder superiority and chalices. It was not a proud day for my magic career.

I prefer to call my deck PMITA Man-Prison due to the lock components/board control with alot of dudes. I only had to play 2 matches due to a first round bye, but aside from a bad draw/many misplays vs Vroman one game, the deck did its thing really well. I mulled to 5 one game and still won thanks to confidants getting be back into the game.
I have also never seen vroman play so poorly. I dont think i have ever been able to tell him about a play mistake before. I chalk it up to inexperience with the BR Stax after playing uba for so long.

Coming from you i can't imagine how many energy drinks you had to consume to get to the point where you thought it was a problem.
