So, no Meandeck members/associates in any Top8 both days?

Is there a real shift in the "best" team in Vintage?

Very little Ichorid though.   He said about 5 Ichorid and 5 Dragon.

I played against Ichorid both days though; I think it was slightly more than 5.  Anyway, I correctly sided 4 Leylines and won.

Very few Dragon.

Empty the Warrens was basically all over Waterbury Day 1 and 2.  I couldn't walk 10 feet without someone either playing EtW, talking about EtW, or seeing someone buying copies of EtW.  E.Truth was obviously the counter of choice amongst most players.

AND ANYONE THAT THINKS POWDER KEG IN STAX IS A VIABLE ANSWER TO EMPTY THE WARRENS IS WRONG

So I've eaten 2 meals w/ only 8 hours of sleep in the last 50 hours.

There was a 90 man day 2 event, top 8 was:  2x Cross Long (GGs new long, Crossman WIlkins and Myself), 1 Bob-bomerman, 2 CS (Brian Demars, Jeremiah Rudolf), 1 Gifts (Mike Hetherington), 1 AK Warrens (Seth Levy), Ross Mirriam.dec (trinket mage fish)

GGs ran train on Stratfordbury, 1 winning yesterday and 2 in top 8 today.

I was playing bob-bomberman, managed to take 3rd place, couldnt beat demars in the split to finals though i probably didnt derserve to after using up my make-him-mulligan-to-oblivion technique in our swiss match.

great tournament, cant wait till the next one!

slice and dice seems much better for any deck that runs red, its much harder to disrupt and you get to draw a card!

GWS had 3 in attendance that I'm aware of and 1 of us split a 90 man Day 2.

That's bigger than almost every SCG event in 06!

FFY is on GWS?  Didn't know that.

BTW we all know who the best team is now, GGS BABY!  Good playing everyone and congrats to all.

Great pics Gekoratel, Neither you and I had a good weekend play wise, or did our teams really but I think I did have tons of fun.

If anyone is interested, I played Bomberman Day 1 and lost in round six to Davide Cohen in a nailbiting match, I also lost to Fish in round one.
I played Greater Gargadon Devastating Dreams Workshop Aggro on Day 2, and blew it all in the feature match. I will post a brief discussion of my deck later today.

I have some short video clips of Travis, Cross, Outlaw, and me. Travis had pics of us + Andy in a group shot after andy made top 8, but unfortunatly my "interveiw" with andy has been lost to the fickles of my cell phone not saving. If anyone wants them, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the files to host/put up, whatever.

I'm always happy to see the Gargadon getting some love.
I played transformational Gargadon/Shoal combo in my 5color fish board day 2 for fun,
and I was plesently surprised to hear other people were playing Gargadon.

I have a new digital camera so I will be taking pictures at every event I go to from now on.  I hope to make a stratford event soon, but it keeps interfering with my school, so it's always out.  Frowntown.

I'm just curious, why was there no penalty enforced for using illegal proxys?  Two of my Day 1 opponents used computer printouts over basic lands as their proxys and weren't even issued a warning when I called the judge.

I prefer Engineered Explosives (cc-0) because it is more versatile, the only problem is that is owned by Null Rod so it's not as great versus the Fishies.

I am aware this is far too early, but any idea when the next one is coming up? I am very dissapointed that I was forced to back out literally one day before the event, so I am going to make absolutely sure that I can make it this next time. Both days.  Sad

This isn't a major infractrion and they gain no real advantage by having a printout over the basic land.  It sounds like you were just fishing for penalties.  As a judge (although I did not judge this), I can tell you personally I'd just have them remove the printout and write with a sharpie over the basic land.  A verbal warning isn't even required in my opinion, since they probably just didn't know.

There were other small rulings that came up that I didn't completely agree with (I will cover those in my report), but this was not one of them.  Overall the judging was strong and I don't think your opponents not getting any penalties for that particular infraction is an issue.

The infraction seems to be as trivial as registering your deck incorrectly so I assumed there would be some penality.  But you're right, I was only trying to benefit at the expense of my opponent.  Call me a heartless bastard.

Depending on how thick the paper is and how big the piece is and how it's inserted into the sleeve, you can easily mark your cards.  SWCCG (he Decipher version, not the awful WOTC version) uses official virtual cards - pdfs you print out and put over the card [note this is because Decipher lost the Star Wars license and that's how we keep the game fresh] and at sanctioned tournaments we always have to be careful of the thickness because a crafty player use the card slips to mark his cards - both bending and thickness (there's a lot more shuffling and counting than in Magic).  It's NOT unreasonable to call a judge over for illegal proxies like that.

You're right, it's certainly not unreasonable.  I was commenting more on the fact that he was disappointed about his opponents not receiving penalties than the actual infraction.

But you're right, I was only trying to benefit at the expense of my opponent.  Call me a heartless bastard.

YOU HEARTLESS BASTARD!

:p

You didn't do anything unreasonable.   I would've done the same thing in your position, just don't be disappointed that no penalty was received.  If you're convinced they had malicious intent, call the head judge.  As already mentioned, it sounds like there was no foul play here from what I could tell.  If you do appeal to the head judge, just be careful because it could be construed as unsportsmanlike conduct if you don't have a valid reason for arguing a penalty increase.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about that one, but again I thought the judging was great overall and the event rocked.

Another great Waterbury. I probably won’t write a report, but I’m sure Brassman will, and Outlaw might as well.

If anyone knows a way to contact Mike Pise on here or on aim pm me, I have his badlands (how else could I play TMWA?).

TMD 10 was a blast as expected. I really didnt have a very good tourny but none the less its always fun jsut to go and have a good time. i played long both days and the deck kinda hated me. the best i did was take 3rd/4th in the single elim side event say 1 where i won 8 straight games then got savaged by counterbalance SS.

My expectations were not very high for this event due to have little to no time to play test since the arabian nights tourney in chicago a few weeks back. Congratz to all those who made top 8 both days there seemed to be less random decks at the top than usual for a waterbury.

As always thanks to ray for holding another great tourney.

P.S......... I hate airports...........

I had a blast both days at Waterbury 10.
Also, I finally got to meet TK.  Apparently I had been chatting with him on and off throughout the weekend, and just had no idea who he was!
!
In other Waterbury related news:  Mark Biller played Jason Hall in the finals of the 32 player Timetwister tournament and lost 1-2.  (both Michigan players and friends of mine!) Congrats guys!

I had some really good matches day two, and will likely write a tournament report sometime this week  My round 6 Marathon V. Paul Mastriano was awesome, as was my top eight match against Crossman.

Thanks to Ray for putting on such a great event, and also for everything he did that allowed Windfall and I to make it out for this event!

Cheers,
FFY

I noticed on one of the pictures on the first page that someone was using the "power 9 proxies" that you can purchase in a set, origionally, Ray said these would not be allowed(I mean when they first came out). Has he changed his mind? Or was this an oversight?
