I was so happy with my deck.  Portent is hilarious.

I would have been so happy with my sideboard too, had I been able to find my fourth frickin' Silver Knight before I left in the morning.  I still don't know where it is.  Gotta find that guy, he's good.

Also, this tournament had too much Sui Black and not enough Extirpate.

4 Portal
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Swords to Plowshares

That's a little confusing.

4 Hapless Researcher

That's really confusing.

4 Portal should be 4 Portent
4 Swords to Plowshares is correct
1 Swords to Plowshares should be 1 Sword of Fire and Ice

4 Hapless Researcher is correct

Jeez, I hope that's not how I actually registered.   Confused

Except for the Researcher, that guy was awesome all day.

Reseacher was only good for you when you Ninjitsu'd out a Ninja of the Deep Hours, which I Trickbinded out of principle. I didn't play during Kamigawa block, and I'm determined to never be hit by a Ninja.

Still, that guy pumps Dryad, chump blocks, and draws a card. Not too shabby.

Yep, and he did all of those things for me on Sunday.  By my calculations, Researchers did 24 damage and changed into Ninjas three times.  They held off a Goblin Lackey for multiple turns and pitched to Force once.

I like him and was glad I didn't play Coiling Oracle instead.

How often is the first strike actually realavent?  Because Galina's Knight seems so much better if its only against goblins.  (knight lives and kills every goblin I can think of thats is not pumped by a goblin king)

Except for that certain random pro-blue 1/2 that grows gigantic. Oh, and random tech like Rancor in Gobs can throw Galina's off, but not Silvery. And against decks with actual non-red creatures, Silvery one is worlds better.

Yep, I'll let you first strike 2 damage onto my 4/4 bear and 3/3 goose all day long. I pray people drop Knight against me.

It's actually a world of difference when you have Umezawa's Jitte in your deck.

The logic on Silver Knight is that in multiples it provides a huge threat to Threshold since the first strike lets two of them to take down a Werebear or Nimble Mongoose.  The Umezawa's Jitte threat is there, as is the team-up power of other creatures.  Less so here than in other decks though.

True, but Thresh counters the 2nd knight, or Swords it, or drops a 6/6 flier...Threshold doesn't really worry about Angel Stompy anyways. We counter the equipment I guess, since our guys are better pound for pound.

But I do agree that Silver > Galina's

The Solution would run Galina's Knight over Silver Knight in Extended, because you wanted to be casting Brainstorm on the first turn off a basic Island.

There are fine reasons for running Galina's Knight, one of which is that sometimes, it's a lot easier on your manabase to cast.

i dont think this statement is correct. Protection from a color has nothing to do with cards that are not in play

Correct. This is also why you can Blue Blast a Piledriver while it's on the stack. - Bardo

I think this was referring to Silver Knight, which, as it happens, isn't a blue card, and can't be Blasted for that reason.

Would you board in silver knight against thresh though?  It seems like you could easily get blow out by swords to plowshares.  I did forget about the synergy with jitte though and jotun grunt though.  Silver knight probably is better vs thresh, but against goblins attacking your mana base, it could be difficult to make it to double white. while blue white is much easier to cast.

Ive played against UWb and UWr fish and they seem to have a pretty good matchup against fish already, so Im not sure you need to side it against them.  So I think that galina's knight is probably better as a board choice, even if silver knight is stronger if it resolves.

Wait, we're talking about boarding these guys in? Why would you devote SB slots to such weak cards?
