FYI, they posted the Grand Prix Trial events for Columbus:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x...umbus07-trials

Yay, sanctioned Legacy, 24k, and 3 rounds free up for grabs. Very Happy

- Chris

P.S. Danville, IL runs Legacy sanctioned once a month, next one is April 15th.

That's weird.  Try this shorter URL
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=grandprix

Then click on the columbus trials link.  ... which should be this one (if the site doesn't shrink my link)
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/grandprix/columbus07-trials

To whom it may concern, the date posted on Wizards website for the Detroit GPT at Pandemonium is currently wrong.  The actual date, scheduled by Professional Events Services is 4-15-2007.

I was just browsing through the WotC website and saw that Nashville had a GPT this past weekend. Only 12 people in the tourney. Does anyone have decklists or anything?

Even better question: Is it even worth considering 12-person tournaments--even GPT's--in metagaming?

Basically, I didn't know where to post to figure out if anyone has heard about the first GPT in the US. Mods, if a new thread should be created or I'm necro-ing a dead thread, feel free to scold me.

Sweet, looks like us west coast people will only be taking the byes from our ratings, and then crushing the field one round earlier then the winners of the 3 round byes.

I think it is bogus that there isn't a Trial in the SoCal area.  (L.A. / San Diego)

I'm not going to travel ~1400 miles for a GPT, but I'll travel ~2200 miles for the GP.

See you scrubs in round 3.  Sad  However, I guess it is my fault for not having 2000+ rating.

However, I guess it is my fault for not having 2000+ rating.

Considering a grand total of 11 players on the earth with a 2000+ Eternal rating and none of them are from Cali, I doubt it.  It's hard to win points when you're leading the pack.

And actually, I have a post on that I made here:

http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=56674

Basically it points out how few players will get byes off eternal rating and my opinion that they should lower the requirements for the byes based off eternal rating so that your rating in eternal would matter at all.  I got 12th at gencon out of 183 and my rating isn't bad...1700s...but no byes based off that.  The 1 bye I get is based off constructed.  I'd be much more interested in bringing up my eternal rating by playing in more wotc sanctioned events if it wasn't almost impossible to get to a 2nd bye based off eternal rating.

:: looks at dci ratings :: http://webapp.wizards.com/ratings.aspx?action=search_member&personid=1518436&brandid=1

Out of the entire world (over 21,000 people have eternal ratings), less than 90 would get a 2nd round bye.  Now think of how few of those will go to the GP (less than 15 I imagine).  And since many people who play eternal don't play constructed rating formats...we don't get much help (yay playing extended for my 1 round bye).  Compare that to the # of people who get 2 byes at a Block or Type 2 gp.

Anyway, thought I'd help point that out.

- Chris (yeah, I don't post much, mainly just read and talk through msger etc to everyone)
