Congratulations to Illissius! His deck, Leyline of Parfait, completely savaged the competition. His deck starts with three Leylines in play, then uses Serra's Sanctum to drop Glowrider and Mangara of Corondor. Leyline of Lifeforce just crushed the many counter-heavy decks in the field. Leyline of the Void and Glowrider stop the combo decks. Then, Karakas-Singularity and Mangara wipe up anything that's left. Second place goes to Tragedy, with 43 Land God Hand, featuring Manabond and six lands. Again, uncounterable win conditions defeat the control decks, this time with Tabernacle and Maze of Ith playing clean-up. I took third with Mono-Blue Control, capable of producing three counterspells on the play or draw, giving it leverage in the control and combo matches.

AAAAh i knew that the second daze was going to be a mistake, other wise i would have gotten third just as well.

Interesting, I was expecting my other deck to be the one which does well, but it seems the popular deck was Nether Spirit control, rather than first turn kills backed with counters like I expected. In light of this, I should've gone with Leyline of the Void plus other card rather than Caverns-Grace, but hey, you can't predict everything.

Was this as much effort to calculate as I think it might've been? Thanks for doing it. Even double checking my own deck seems rather nontrivial...

Yeah, the second Daze was quite useless and cost you a few games.

I thought that Caverns-Grace was going to be a major force in this tournament, but very few people brought the combo decks, and nobody brought a deck that could be foiled by Angel's Grace.

It was quite a bit of effort. The results are interesting enough to have been worth it, though. The hardest matches were generally the control mirrors.

I corrected some of the results for deck 18, May The Force Be With You. It can't beat Nether Spirit control, but if you hit first with Barbed Shocker, the control deck is unable to race, so you draw some of those games. That deck's ability to drop a Simian Spirit Guide off Caverns in addition to Barbed Shocker caused it to do better on the draw in some matches. It's a very tricky interaction that I almost missed.

Interesting. I guess I could have done a lot worse. I was hoping for fewer Daze decks (SSG counters it, but that typically means neither player can win anymore), and did not anticipate so many control decks at all. Sudden Shock could have been a much stronger card, although I find it hilarious that it trumped strategies like "a bunch of counters and a 2/2 that is not Nether Spirit".

On the plus side, my deck was at least unique. Next time, I'll have to find even techier tech!

Keeper did alright... it's no podium, but it is top 4, I guess. I shoulda put more thought into my deck though. Illissius submitted his decks near the end and his were monsters.
