The Smashing Pumpkins Reunion

In a probably vain effort to make some of you jealous: I went to the Smashing Pumpkins reunion gig at the Pinkpop festival this monday, and It Was Awesome.





I wish I were as good at whining about life as Billy. And sorry D'Arcy Wretzky: Ginger Reyes is way, way hotter.

They are playing Toronto some time this summer as part of Virgin Fest, so if you are anywhere close to Ontario Zherbus you could catch them here (and probably play some type one).

Saw them years ago for their Melancholy tour and i have to say they were awful live, I also saw Billy Corgan when he was Guitaring for New Order and he didn't exactly wow me then either (though on the whole new order were awesome).

I used to love the pumpkins something fierce but in my opinion everything after Siamese Dream was just awful. As soon as Billy became a millionaire instead of a suicidal drug taking depression boy I think all the inspiration and drive were gone.

Well, either he's on some serious drugs again (which would go some way in explaining the outfit) or he's found his muse again. He was awesome, both vocally and instrumentally. The gig was perfectly balanced for a festival: 1 hr 45 mins, playing all the singles, some of the more obscure material, the upcoming single Tarantula which, granted, isn't quite as good as the old material but still pretty damn nifty, and a fantastic 20 min. guitar solo at the end. And God, Ginger is hawt..

I'll bet that after the album release (Zeitgeist) on July 10th, they'll mostly be playing material from that on their tour. I'm glad I caught them now

Lucky bastard..  If they come around here I'm almost certain to have tickets.  But at the moment I get nothing.

I still miss D'arcy.

They're playing like eight to ten shows at an awesome venue in Asheville: The Orange Peel, this June, but I will not be able to make it because of lack of money.
