first, workshops did incredibly well only after trinisphere was restricted - winning two major scgs, the vintage champs, and then the waterbury - all within 7 months of trinisphere's restriction.

Workshops did well after Trinisphere's restriction because:

1) They were taken for granted by many people, believing that without Trinisphere, Workshops could not compete.
2) Point one led to a lower amount of hate maindecked and sideboarded.
3) One of its worst matchups disappeared (Workshop Aggro)
4) The mediocre Workshop players jumped off the bandwagon, leaving behind mostly extremely competent players (Chang, Seroogy)

None of that disproves what was said in response to

Say what you want about workshops, the only time I saw them in large numbers doing well was while trinisphere was around (and they weren't doing THAT well).

I'm locking this. Firstly, I think everyone has stated their case many times, and secondly it always walked the line between a forbidden topic and a great topic. I believe it's dropped into the forbidden zone. Some made some great posts, but this topic has really run it's course.
