Always looking for ones to read to kill time. Currently I'm reading about 15 or so, but I'm always looking for more. Penny Arcade, Questionable Content, order of the stick, Kid Radd, etc. read a bunch. My favorite by far has to be Minus though. It's one of the best comics I've ever seen from a graphical standpoint and the panels are quite fun to look at. http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus1.htmlSo let's hear yous.

Popular ones... Ctrl+Alt+Del Order of the Stick Pennay Arcade Questionable Content VG Cats
Maybe not at as popular, but should be anyways... Fanboys Online (I'm a sucker for video game humor) Men in Hats (hi-freaking-larious, but the guy stopped doing it a few years ago...) Sinfest (updates everyday!  great art!  hilarious!) Something Positive (all the characters are cynical and alot of the strips end on bitter one-liners.  I'm a big fan) The Adventures of Dr. McNinja (comic-book style!  a ninja who's doctor with a gorilla secretary, a bandito sidekick and he rides around on a dinosaur!) Ugly Hill (one I recently found, but it's really funny.)
When I get bored, one of my favorite things to do is to find an old webcomic, go to the first strip, and jut press "Next" until the cows come home.  Some comics are old enough that the archive has to be tackled in sessions.
  Great topic!

While I don't like TPFD, I really love MTTS. Also, don't forget www.nataliedee.comWhich runs the gamut from suck to awesome, but at least the jokes are so throwaway that you don't have to worry about investing time in reading a comic that doesn't turn out to be funny (I am looking at you, PvP and Questionable Content...). EDIT: these comics also update EVERY DAY. Woo! EDIT #2: For all your erudite hipster indie referencing needs, there's: http://www.dieselsweeties.com/    -the archives are better than the recent ones http://www.mnftiu.cc/mnftiu.cc/war.html   -GET YOUR WAR ON http://www.qwantz.com/  -Dinosaurs The creator of Questionable Content did IndieTits, but the website is down now. That makes me sads.

I can't imagine a lot of people getting these, as they are very musical genre-driven, but these are two of my favorites not mentioned yet: www.21deadmonkeys.com - for anyone who listens to ska http://www.mitchclem.com/nothingnice/ - touted as the world's first online punk comic. Mitch Clem (Nothing nice) also does some funny other one I can't remember with the same characters from Nothing Nice.

I read a little bit of Nothing Nice-- good concepts, but the guy needs to either get far better at lettering or use a program to letter it instead. It's almost unreadable, it doesn't even line up. That's not punk, that's lazy : (

							QC and PA of course.
I used to read Nothing Nice waaaay back when it was actually like, being updated (so about 5 years ago?).  I really enjoyed it then, even if I didn't get all of the really obscure references.  Then, he stopped for like a year or two, and I read it again when he started and enjoyed it again.  But, alas, I have lost any faith in Clem's ability to update anything for any length of time, and hence PA and QC are all thats left for me.  Also, I tend to forget about them, then go back and read like 2 months at a time heh.

It's true, his writing looks like crap, and it wasn't updated very often, and still isn't... Another of my favorites is Cyanide And Happiness: http://www.explosm.net/comics/945/The art and writing are both horrible, it is really just a collection of one-liners, in very poorly drawn comic form. Funny if you can turn off your brain for a while.

Girl Genius is really excellent if you are looking for something story driven. It helps too that the artist has done some excellent magic art also. links in Gort's reply. PA, MAcHall, QC, PVP, blah blah blah ect. are all good. I had stoped reading macHall a while ago because of upload issues. Yay for the archive being back, and yay for another comic by them. I liked the art work in some of the earlier 10k commotion, but I'm not so into the DDR sceen. http://10kcommotion.com/Little-gamers used to be funny, but now its more of a cut and paste kind of thing. Out of curiosity, I can remember a web comic from 4-5 years back that featured 2 dans with super powers. Anybody remember it?

Oh man, a lot of great stuff has already been posted. I'll have to dig up some more obscure links from my bookmarks tonight or tomorrow.
For now, I'll simply echo the recommendations on Freefall and Schlock Mercenary, both of which have received only one mention thus far . Each is an excellent sci-fi/humor/cartoony strip, but Freefall is hard sci-fi and Schlock is very much not.
In addition, Perry Bible Fellowship, A Softer World, and Married to the Sea are all great pure joke comics, as is XKCD. I think there are a few more noteworthy ones in this category, but I'll have to double check for them.
Minus is excellent. It's one of the few webcomics I've recommended to non-internet people.
Men in Hats and Kid Radd are among the best discontinued comics, but it's been a while since I checked that set of bookmarks, so there are likely other great ones I'm forgetting.
Piled Higher and Deeper (PhD) is unbelievably hilarious for grad students and college professors. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to recommend it to a general audience, but if you are (or are planning to be) in those groups, go read it.

Right up my alley.  Here we go, comics I read every day.  Some are mediocre, but I read them anyway. www.webcomicsnation.com/tylerpage/nb - Nothing Better, a comic about a girl's first year at a Lutheran College.  Excellent art, interesting storyline. www.orneryboy.com - Flash is hot. www.comics.com/comics/getfuzzy - duh. http://antoniotyler.com/synaptic - mediocre art, but gets a chuckle once in a while. www.scarygoround.com - British, surreal. www.wapsisquare.com - one of the best comics online, for certain. www.hilarityensuespdx.com - relatively new, it's something different than you've ever seen before, guaranteed.  Anyone from Portland should check it out. www.leasticoulddo.com - Sohmer and DaSousa at it again (they do Looking For Group, above), this is an awesome strip. Then, onto my boys at www.boxcarcomics.com. http://www.afterstrife.com/ - Another British comic, this guy did 4 years of a comic called "housd" 7 times a week without missing a single update.  Ever.  It's a good story. www.joeandmonkey.com - The coolest character in webcomics ever.  I love this comic. http://www.vipercomics.com/webComics/yht/ - You'll Have That, a comic about a young married couple - something a fair few of us can relate to.  If you're in any kind of long-term relationship, read the archives, then show this comic to your significant other.  She'll laugh. http://www.digitalpimponline.com/strips.php?title=mat - Matriculated.  It's like your college experience, without all the homework.  Artist Joe Dunn is the hardest working man in webcomics.  He's awesome. http://www.digitalpimponline.com/tvb - Turtle Vs. Bunny.  It's like Spy vs. Spy meets the tortise and the hare.  Readers vote on who wins from one strip to the next.  Another by Joe Dunn. And the big 3 movie comics - http://www.digitalpimponline.com/strips.php?title=movie - Joe Loves Crappy Movies, Joe Dunn's primary strip. www.theaterhopper.com - Theater Hopper, by Tom Brazelton www.multiplexcomic.com - Multiplex, by Gordon McAlpin.  This one isn't a review strip, it's about the people who work at the theater. The three movie guys also get together once a week to discuss the week in film in podcast form at TalkShoe, you can download the episodes here - The Triple Feature. And after ALL THAT, I think I've covered my favorites.
