Those lists are really weird...FoW in stax and forgotten ancient in GAT? I'm surprised that only 1 GAT deck made it, maybe all of them played with ancients? Razz

Just as weird as the Ancients was that the "Gro" deck ran 1 Gush and 3 Deep Analysis. Hell, there were substantially more Deeps in the Top 8 than there were Gushes. Strange results.

7/8 decks abuse black lotus, and apparently glittering wishboards are tech Wink

The winning fish looks looks eerily familiar...

He basically cut savannah lions for true believer and more stifles.  I didn't think UW fish could still win but apparently it can in the UK.  Mindcensor sideboard is smart because he can just side out rods for them in an even swap, which I'm guessing he did very often.

I'm curious to what the turnout was and if you had to qualify for the championships or not.  The lists are highly original for the most part.  That stax one blew my mind.

I also second the congratulations to Simon for the top 8 with his affinity deck.  He's a great guy and has been piliting that thing FOREVER Razz

The Vintage championships were an open tournament.  There were 21 or 22 players who played, and I think most of them were powered.

I played a fish deck to third place, loseing to Lee in the semi finals.  I practice with Lee and Jim (1st and 2nd) so all in all it was a good day for team Hemel.

One factor that could have influenced the lists is that there are very few vintage tournaments in the UK and so people had decks assembled for quite a while without much chance to play them.

That Stax list brings a tear of joy to my eye.

Although I think it would be a huge misrepresentation to call that deck "Stax".

Up until 2 days before the event my deck was more or less a fish list I nabbed of the net about a year ago :S

I also kept changing my sideboard all weekend until the event itself Razz

I dont want to say my fish build is truely original, I just adpapted a list for the UK meta, we need more vintage events in the UK Sad

(btw I am Lee Wood Razz)

how little gy hate. It seems like very poor decks to me. Ichorid would have run over this. Dark ritual decks would have easily won a lot of games i guess..

but only 3 leylines in T8 (or am i counting wrong)

I knew that there was only going to be one Ichorid deck so gambled on not playing it and took the Leylines out.  I still had the grunts to attack slower graveyard recursion.

The top 8 lists are indicative that v. little Vintage is played in the U.K. The lack of Merchant Scrolls is still redonkulous though.

A quick question for Lee, smok and other people who played in it, if it was a 10 proxy tournament how different would your lists have been? Would you have played the same deck?

If it ad been a proxy tournament I would have assumed more Ichorid, more Workshop based decks and less Fish.  I would  have probably played a similar deck but would have Leyline in the sideboard, and may well have dropped the Old Men of the Sea.
