I should be there, barring any sort of activity from extraterrestrials or devious brass men.

EDIT:  Also, as this occurs after the 20th, it looks like whatever B&R September brings will be in effect.  That is hot.

Proxy #1.

I'm very pleased with the results of this first Imperial Seal proxy.  They will get better, as there is lots of room for improvement.  No lie, that's a lot of text.  I look forward to getting more skilled with the text, as this proxy is by far the most challenging to date.  I'll also continue to experiment with colors until I'm satisfied.  Anyone who is going to pre-register and would like custom modifications let me know.  I would be happy to customize the actual stamp for say, the Myriad symbol, an area code, or some initials (team or otherwise).

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Just a few crazy questions. Has WOTC every gotten on you about making these proxies? I know in the past that they have come down hard on anybody using their copywrited symbols and things. Second, do you have a job? If so, where do you find time to make all these cards? They look very detailed. Are they each hand drawn? If so, all the credit to you as I have no such artistict talent. Do you have extra copies that you sell?

I'm banking on Wizards not caring about 50 hand made proxies.  They fought with Gaming ETC over printed proxies that they were selling.  These are hand made alterations of actual Magic cards - that I give away for free at my events.  I have spent well over $600 on art supplies making these cards, and the time involved is tremendous.  I doubt Wizards cares about people losing money off Magic Very Happy  The proxies are my way of saying thank you to my players.  They also help improve the quality of the tournament experience for everyone involved.

I do, in fact, have a job.  I spend 50 hours a week as a Foreman in the Carpenter's Union.  I dedicate about 40 hours a month towards making each series of proxies.  It is usually in chunks of time around 3-5 hours, either after work or on weekends.  I do them in steps, so I'll blank all the cards first, then do the sketches, then color, text etc...   While I'm doing this, I have the TV on.  I suppose the time most people spend watching TV is the time I spend on proxies.  Other than when I'm making proxies, I watch zero TV.  I started with the Highlander TV series seasons 1-6.  After that, I went to Aqua Teen Hunger Force seasons 1-4.  For a while, I tried to go with movies, but I found myself actually watching them too much.  From there I got into UFC, so I've seen (mostly heard)every one of those that Blockbuster carries.  Now that I've run out of UFC, I'm onto the Venture Bros.  When it gets close to the deadline, I usually just work in silence to avoid any distractions.

Every single one is hand drawn.  As far as detail goes, I do put a lot of effort into them, so I'm glad it shows.  My main goal is to make them immediately recognizable as the card it is a proxy of.  I've seen many games where a board has been misread due to proxies.  Even something as simple as which moxes are on the table can be confusing with less detailed proxies.  This is especially true when they are getting welded in and out.

I do have extra copies that I trade and give out as prizes at my events.  If you are not local to New England, I can certainly be commissioned to make proxies.  These wouldn't be ELD proxies in the sense that they would still count towards your proxy limit if you ever did make it out to one of an ELD or Myriad event.

I'll be there.  Sorry to let you know so late, been really busy with school.  Proxy # 18 for me.  If you still don't have all the artwork done on some of them, feel free to customize mine however you want, any ATHF artwork would be especially swell.

See you there Saturday,

The day has finally arrived.  A reminder for anyone who hasn't been to Stillpoint's new location - you do not need to pay the meters on Saturdays.  Parking is on the street only.

Here are some of my favorite custom modifications.  I found the symbol of the Empire from Star Wars to be a particularly clever request.  These proxies took an insane amount time, as always, and there are still touches I would like to add.  That's just how it goes though.

This was a great event. There were 32 players and a variety of different decks. Oliver Beaumont, Ray Robillard, Bill Copes, and Andy Probasco split in the Top 4. Congrats to all the winners and thanks to everyone for coming!
