DATE: Saturday, Septermber 15th, 2007

TIME: Tournament Begins at 1pm SHARP. We will be starting on time for this event, so please be signed up with a decklist turned in by 1pm.

REGISTRATION: Registration begins at 12pm. Decklists with sideboards are required.

LOCATION: Cary, NC

ADDRESS:

Sports Zone
1022 Ryan Road
Cary, NC 27511

FORMAT: Vintage (Type 1) with 15 proxies allowed. All proxies should be on a basic land card and must include the name, mana cost, card type and all relevant game text. You can also follow Starcity's guidelines for making proxies.

There will be a cut to a top 8. Losers in the top 4 must play for 3rd and 4th place; however, 5th-8th will be based on top 8 standings and there will be no playoff.

ENTRY: Entry will be $20

PRIZE: Prizes are based on 23 people. However, I will make these prizes guaranteed for 20 people since we have not had a tourney in so long. Up to 23 people I will keep all of the entry money to make my money back, and after 23 people all of the money will be given back as prizes.  Note that the store is taking $40 to let us run the tournament for the day. If we get less than 20 people, I will make the prizes work as best I can (they'll still be really good). If you have any questions or if this isn't clear please let me know.

1st - 4th place:

Note that 1st chooses 1st, then 2nd, etc...

- Unlimited Timetwister

- Complete 10 proxy Ichorid deck from 2007 Gencon Vintage Champs Top 8 ($165 SCG Value!!)
This deck comes complete with sleeves, the sideboard, and a deck box
The 10 proxies are 4x Bazaar of Baghdad, 4x Leyline of the Void and 2x Taiga
No, it's not Nick Calcaterra's actual deck
This list can be found here (scroll to Vintage Championship Top 8 Decklists):
   http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=welcome/conventions/gencon07#8

- English Mana Drain

- Revised Tropical Island

5th - 8th place:

Each 5th-8th player gets 2 packs of sleeves PLUS any one of the following:

Note that 5th places gets first choise, then 6th, etc...

1) 3x Foil Mana Leak
2) Foil FNM Brainstorm
3) Foil Urza's Destiny Phyrexian Negator
4) Morphling
5) Tinker + Darksteel Colossus
6) Foil 8th Ed. City of Brass
7) Foil Signed Decree of Justice

9) Windswept Heath
10) Bloodstained Mire
11) Foil Leyline of the Void
12) 2x Wasteland

15) 4x Protean Hulk
16) 4x Summoner's Pact

If you live in driving distance please make an effort to attend so that we can continue to hold these events. We usually take a short break for lunch and there is plenty of food, drinks, singles and sleeves at the store. Thanks and hope to see everyone there.

Feinstein Clause: I WILL be playing in this tourney.

I'll try to be there; I don't think my schedule will prevent my attendance.  It will be good to beat see all the Arsenal kids again.

These are always fun events and the prize structure is fairly legit, as you can see.  If you are remotely close to Cary (which is near Raleigh), you should come!

SCG: Indy is the same day. I don't know if it affects anyone besides me though.

I did know that before I announced it Smile

I don't know of anyone else who would go that is going to Indy so unless it's a problem for a few other people (speak up), I'm going to keep this date. I have a lot of stuff going on this semester and this is one of the only days I can do a tourney for a while. Sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully you can make it out to the next one.

There have been some questions about the Sept. 1st banned/restricted announcement. Please keep in mind that any changes made on Sept. 1st will have NO EFFECT on this tourney. Thanks!

I'm trying to get together a car leaving from Charleston, SC. So to all you Charleston lurkers PM me or IM me if you are interested in going to this. Anyone along I-95 looking for a ride, I might have space, so don't hesitate to ask.

Is Machinus gonna be at this event?  I know that I am planning on coming. I talked to Hil and he wants to go. George and the Rugrats will be there. I don't think Cullen is going to make it. King Becker will be in attendance as well as Mr. Cody Vinci. Who else is planning on going?

DAVID EARLEY, vintage freakin adept!!!!!!!

I also recruited 3 new people from nc state to come out, so there should be a good number of people.

Ok, here are my predictions.  Others can feel free to make predictions and in the event that I beat Cody and you beat me, I'll surrender the dollar or whatever prize might be given out.

In no particular order:

1. Bert Kyle
2. David Earley
3. Cody Vinci
4. Ryan Quick
5. Becker
6. George G
7. Jesse Pinchot
8. Andrew P

Note: This applies to only the Top8 prediction prize, not any other prize I may acquire. Wink

I haven't seen trash talk in a tournament thread for a while.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but Long is going to own this weekend.

Is Steve actually coming or is this an unsubstantiated rumor? Wink

The vintage world champion Stephen Menendian? or some other type 1 player named Steve? (which would make much more sense)

Oh, and Long gets beat by the metagame.

Okay, I lose this one.

I associate the name Steve exclusively to Stephen Menendian.

Ouch.

There used to be a time where he was under MY shadow. Now I'm just 'the other Steve'.

And I haven't made up my mind either way. My original plans were to SCG Indy, but this is like half the distance away.
