Well, I don't ACTUALLY own any power/workshops, but here's my twelve-proxy build. It's based on Raymond Robillard's Staxless Stax deck. Have a looksie (I know, I know, no Balance, but I just didn't have enough space).

Land:
1 Strip Mine
3 Wasteland
1 Barbarian Ring
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Mishra's Workshop
4 City of Brass
2 Gemstone Mine

Creatures:
4 Aven Mindcensor (Switchable for Glowrider) (No Gushes for you!!!)
4 Goblin Welder (Need I say more)
1 Triskelion (Messes with Flash)
1 Gorilla Shaman (Most Stax lists run at least one...)
1 Platinum Angel (Switchable for Sundering Titan) (Out vs. Flash and Fish, and Ichorid, and....)

Artifacts:
4 Sphere of Resistance
3 Crucible of Worlds
2 Powder Keg (Screws with the few Ichorid builds, and with the fact that every Flash build runs Sliver kill)
2 Sensei's Divining Top
2 Chalice of the Void
1 Memory Jar
1 Trinisphere
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
5 Moxen
1 Black Lotus (Hmmmm.... no idea why THIS would be in here, eh?)

Other:
3 Thirst for Knowledge (To dump arties for Welder)
1 Time Walk
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Tinker
1 Crop Rotation (Fetch lands that you need)
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Demonic Tutor

Sideboard:
4 Leyline of the Void
3 Pyroblast
3 Disenchant
2 Chalice of the Void
1 Powder Keg
1 Jester's Cap
1 Triskelion

Because my entire friggin' meta is G-A-T with a splash of Flash, I decided that this would be good enough to play. I would like to fit Balance in there, but as I said, just not enough space at the moment. Suggestions?

Triskelion is an amazing card, i wouldn't recommend you cut it, but i really don't think it posses a huge issue to flash, for clock reasons (you can't depend on tinker with a draw engine like stax has) as well as others.

I would strongly recommend running a full 4x of chalice of the void, it messes with every deck aside from stax, even then opening chalice@ 0 can be messy. If you though triskelion messed with flash, try chalice @2. It also serves the function that your mindcensors seem to be serving with added benefits, being an easily castable artifact among them.

Thirst is an odd call. TFK pops of in stax builds on occasion, but none have been that successfully. I think you'd be able to generate a better card advantage from balance.

Maybe you should drop TFK for Bazaar of Baghdad. It's uncounterable, free, re-usable, and tutorable via Crop rotation. I think it's just superior. Also, if you really want to add Balance (and really, you should), what about cutting the lonely shaman (most decks don't rely on- or even use- full power) or... Crop rotation? Cropper is a house when it resolve, but it's often auto-loose when it gets countered.
Anyway, it's always nice to see stax decks.

One Top is better than two.

That could be your Balance.

It seems like you really want more land, such as 2 more Gemstone mines (in the place of 2 non-land cards, to up your total lands to 18 plus your mana sources).  This is mostly because you actually do want colored mana and adding 2 Gemstones would give you 8 rainbow lands (plus the Moxen and Lotus).

I also think that in a 5c build, Engineered Explosives would be far better.  It lets you play it at whatever number you want, right when you want it (it's potentially more expensive to cast right away, but still kills 0c permanents for the low low cost of 2).  It also gets around any type of Chalice by letting you pay extra colorless.

Last, I agree that 2 Tops is too much, 2 Chalice are too few, and TfK is rather subpar (especially with a full set of Welders, Bazaar will rock your socks).

I would have to agree with the above posts in that adding 2 gemstone mines would greatly help your manabase, as colored mana in stax is always at a premium. Also, the replacement of bazaar for thirst is a huge upgrade for stax. One of the most over looked draw engines in all of magic is the ability to utilize bazaar of baghdad, and very few decks can come close to stax in that regard. I personally would cut a mindcensor, the gorilla shaman, and a top for balance, Karn, and sundering titan. Karn is the best win condition stax has available to it as long as null rods are not being run in the deck. A final point, i recommend testing Coalition relic in your deck. It is an excellent card in Staxless Stax. Hope my insight helps in some way.

I would really run a full complement of Wastelands atm, as it is very good versus GAT. Maybe some of the following ideas may help you:

Playing Leyline maindeck would really help the Ichorid and Flash matchups. Vs Ichorid, game 1 it is an autowin. The other games, you could even side in some Serum Powders. With the help of the Spheres and Wastes you should be able to protect it from the Enchantment-destruction. Vs Flash it helps you slow down the game to try and achieve a harder lock.

I think one of the most interesting cards for Stax atm is Jesters Cap. Vs Flash its like a very fast win-condition. Combined with Leylines and the usual Stax-Tempo-cards it should be fast enough to be relevant. It's also very powerful at fighting GAT. You could play two Maze of Ith maindeck, two sided and play a gameplan of "keep one Beater in check, Cap the other four".

I hope that helped you in some way  Very Happy

edit:

Here's an interesting example list I want to show for reference. It's built around these ideas, maybe you want to try out this version, just for fun. The proxylimit may be a little problematic, though...  Wink
