hi guys, I have not played magic for like 4 years now...

I was wondering what has been going on, do you guys still play T1 ? ( I think you call it vintage now ??? ) , also , what's that "classic" format you guys talk about in some forums ???

A good little update would be really really nice . Smile

Thanks

As of a few years ago, the various formats have actual names as instead of just numbers. If you talk about Type 1 though, anyone but the newest players should understand what you're talking about.

Standard = Type II
Extended = Type 1.x
Legacy = Type 1.5
Vintage = Type I

The current top decks in Vintage are Hulk Flash and GAT, resulting from the removal of power level errata on Flash, and the unrestriction of Gush. The B&R list has changed a ton in the last 4 years, but from what I understand the list on Wizard's website was out of date. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction though.

If you're curious about what's being played, check out the tourney results forums and the Starcitygames deck database. That should give you a rough idea of what's happening in Vintage today.

I checked WIzards site and it seems they updated. It appears to be up to date.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=judge/resources/sfrvintage

It's hard to remember everything that's happened in 4 years, but off the top of my head:

- Trinisphere was restricted on the basis of being unfun. With Mishra's Workshop, lots of games ended early to a turn 1 Trinisphere.

- Portal cards are now legal, and a few of the tutors from it are restricted.

- Lots of things coming off the list. Some of them were just awful to begin with, like Voltaic Key, but others, like Mindtwist, might surprise someone who's been out of the game a while. All I can say is read the list very carefully.
