So, been tweaking a decklist that I've come to really enjoy. The deck functions around a few basic principles, first that Platinum Angel and Lightning Greaves together are very good. Also, Metalworker is fun when one plays lots of artifacts. Plus, Tinkering for a Darksteel Colossus is fun, and hurts faces.

Here's the decklist, commentary will follow.

1 Darksteel Colossus
4 Metalworker
3 Platinum Angel
3 Lightning Greaves

1 Ancestral Recall
2 Thirst for Knowledge
2 Braingeyser
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Isochron Scepter
1 Memory Jar

2 Cunning Wish
1 Gifts Ungiven
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Tinker

1 Mana Drain
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Time Walk
3 Final Fortune

1 The Abyss

1 Black Lotus
5 Mox
1 Mox Diamond
1 Grim Monolith
1 Mana Crypt
1 Sol ring
1 Voltaic Key
1 Candelabra of Tawnos
1 Lotus Petal
1 Gilded Lotus
1 Mana Vault

1 Strip Mine
1 Academy Ruins
1 Badlands
2 Underground Sea
2 Volcanic Island
3 Polluted Delta
1 Tolarian Academy

SB:
1 Echoing Truth
1 Misdirection
1 Force of Will
1 Final Fortune
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Pyroblast
3 ReB
1 Rack and Ruin
1 Volcanic Geyser
1 Diabolic Edict
1 Cunning Wish
1 Island

All right, so the game plan is relatively simple. Platinum Angel is the primary win condition. With a greaves on she's quite the bitch. Extra turns with Final Fortune and Angel really cut down on the amount of answers an opponent can turn up. Of course, Tinker for Darksteel works too.

Mirari is a bit cute, and counts for an artifact with Metalworker. A Mirari Cunning Wish works well. Also the reason another Cunning Wish is on the SB. Cunning Wish for Cunning Wish and something else, etc. Good synergy with Yawg's Will of course.

The deck generates a ton of mana, and make Stroke viable. Lots of tutors, one of the better cards to search for is Tolarian Academy. Lots of search for the win pieces. Gifts Ungiven has been solid so far. The single mana drain/ cunning wishable force and misdirection are the only pieces of permission. But with a good amount of search and plenty of threats, it's quite easy to get that single counter to force out an angel.

The Abyss is a house, a must counter against most decks in the meta. Useless against dreadnoughts of course, but nice against random Magus of the Moon decks. Works solidly against GaT, etc. Academy Ruins has been quite nice, allows for me to return busted artifacts.

In any case, there really aren't many answers for a Greaved Angel, and this deck pumps them out quite well.

Comments, thoughts? The list might look a bit sloppy, but it's tighter than one might imagine.

This deck looks like a Frankenstein of two decks, Control Slaver and Mud Domination.  Unfortunately it is also weaker than both.  Control Slaver will easily deal with any large artifacts and win conditions you put into play.  A Tinker for Darksteel Colossus will only result in a wasted Tinker.  A Goblin Welder will easily weld out the Colossus for the Mox or some other less painful artifact in your graveyard.

Not all is lost though. The mana base is good, and most of the components are there for either a Slaver or MUD deck.

I have been playing slaver for a while now and have way more options than this deck, and I along with most sane players these days have a Platinum Angel in my main deck.  Slaver has a bunch of options in the current metagame, GAT and Flash are not much of an issue.  Ichorid is another matter, but your sideboard really comes into play for this matchup.  Also Slaver is an easy deck to tweak to your metagame, with about 8 slots for tech against current meta decks.  Also Slaver can work with a wish sideboard for either Cunning Wish or Burning Wish.  I have had reasonable sucess with this deck and I am still missing a Black Lotus, and Mox Jet.  Slaver also runs at least 8 counterspells (IE 4 Force of Will & $ Mana Drain).  Mana Drain is especially useful in dropping a large artifact into play.

Mud Domination uses the components of Stax to run a total artifact deck.  MUD uses several artifact creatures and Karn to turn other artifacts into creatures for a win, but also has a combo with Metalworker and Staff of Domination, which lets you gain life draw your deck and win.  MUD uses Smokestacks and Sphere of Resistance(s) and Trinisphere as well as Tanglewire(s) to lock down your opponent and maintain permanent advatage.

Control Slaver is a cheaper deck to build than MUD, mostly because MUD runs Mishra's Workshops.  In case you don't know Mishra's Workshop taps for 3 colorless mana that can only be used for casting artifacts.  It really works well in MUD.

I have included lists of a Slaver and a MUD deck for your reference.

Control Slaver Main Deck

1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Tinker
1 Platinum Angel

4 Wasteland
4 Mishra's Workshop

I think either of these two decks are much more solid and proven than your list, which to me seems a bit unstable.
At this time you could go either way it depends on your budget. Whatever you choose good luck! Smile Smile Smile

No offense to Captreynolds, but you didnt give the guy any feedback.  You just said MUD and Slaver are better.  Here is MUD, here is Slaver.  These decks are "much more solid".....

Anyways, I really like the deck, a few questions before I post anything more substantial.

Why Stroke over Braingeyser?  I feel that in vintage, any slight edge you can get you have to take, even if it's one less mana in the casting cost of a similar spell.  Are you worried that you wont be able to pay the  {U} {U} of geyser?  That seems pretty unlikely given the amount of blue sources you have.  I dont know, just a thought.

The Abyss is a wonderful, underused (though fairly expensive) card.  I'm considering maindecking it myself (I have a similar deck).  The only problem is, it definitely is dead against ichorid and flash and there are much better hosers against GAT, which can usually go lethal on any given turn, not needing to leave a dryad or tog in play from turn to turn.  It certainly is GG against Fish and Goblins though.

Why Grim Monolith over Mana Vault?  Especially with voltaic key in your deck, vault is far better/faster.

What is the Strip Mine doing in this deck?  Does it have any purpose?  That seems sorely out of place.  Replace it with another polluted delta and really solidify your mana base (which is already very nice).

Mox Diamond - Seems VERY narrow.  How often can you afford to pitch a land?  You have so few and they are all very important.

How has gilded lotus worked?  Having just 1 seems kind of questionable.  I assume it's pretty nice with metalworker when you do get it?

I think you should consider adding an Isochron Scepter or two.
With an Angel in play, Isochron + Final Fortune is infinite turns,
not to mention the potential for Cunning Wish shenanigans.
There is also some synergy between Voltaic Key (unrestricted!) and Isochron,
though it's rather minor.

I think one or two Staffs of Domination may be good,
since they're an infinite combo with a Metal Worker and four artifacts in hand.
Although, I do notice that your deck is tilted a little away from heavy amounts of artifacts,
so the combo may not be worth it.

I think Thirst for Knowledge may be better than Compulsive Research in your deck.
Thoughtcast may have potential, as well.

Have you considered playing 1-2 Ancient Tomb? It would help with all the three mana cost spells.
1-2 Chalice of the Void may be good. It could help shut off the opponent's answers to Greaves + Angel.

Good luck!

Thanks for the comments. Some thoughts.

Braingeyser does provide an extra card. I liked the luxury of playing it as an instant, but most things can be done at sorcery speed anyway. Thirst for Knowledge is what I meant by compulsive research. Poor recollection apparently.

Lightning Greaves, I should say, is the real house in this deck. First turn greaves, second turn metalworker is as fast as playing a metalworker first turn. Provides protection for the angel and allows darksteel boy to attack the turn he comes into play. Also makes goblin welder pretty useless. And The Abyss likes to eat Goblin Welers, too. Mana Vault, of course, has a place.

Strip Mine works well. Lots of random land cards in my meta like maze of ith, other tolarians, libraries, etc. A nice thing to have, and the mana base is quite solid enough.

I played Isochron in the original decklist, two copies. I found that if I smacked down an angel with greaves, it was pretty much game anyway, and although nice the effect was a bit redundant. But Isochron does work with stuff like mystical, vampiric tutors and ancestral of course. Also, consider that final fortune can be played the turn before dropping the angel. So if you can play Final Fortune with Cunning Wish back up for the angel, then go for it.

I like the idea of a staff. Another artifact would be nice. What to cut?
