Pics!

Our Meta. WhoTFAreThesePeople?  It rained, so some probably stayed in side.  It's not like it's a mox, but it was great seeing people try out Vintage!

My field round 1 vs Goblins at some point.  I actually won this game, but lost in three (more on this later, I'm sure...)

Goblins vs LandStill!

Team Vacaville's Patrick's THe "built in car ride up" Claw vs...KatakiBob!

Austin demonstrating his jerking off skillz. Austin drew in 3 games.

I'm sure the guy with the welder is winning.  This is the first tourney in a long time where I didn't know anyone there but TMD viewers and Team Vacaville.  THE SCENE IS GROWING!!!

Austin is winning, I think, but his You-Is-Gay-Oh playmat makes it look like he has shit on the field. I don't know!

Stax is out in full force...

Robbie (I think) on the left is using mountains for his Tropical Island proxies.  He was playing WorseThanGro (UG Kudzu/Dryad)

Junior's Probaganda tech vs David Sims Goblins

Freshly resolving Memenarch with an empty grave, Patrick cracks Black Lotus for the loss!

LandStill, apparently winning.

Shop on Shop action. My favorite!

Top 4: Goblins vs Goblins!

Split Deck Vintage Madness!

The finalists, before I had to leave.

Here's the T4 as Scott posted on the NorCal boards and Stax did in fact beat Goblins. I hung around as I loaned a few ashtray makers out to Sean who made the T4. Grats to Kevin
I was suprised by the 2 Goblins decks in the T4 as I usually run at least an Engineered for random Oath, Empty, or Goblin targets (GWelder incl.) but thought there would be more of a chance at seeing a few Ichorid or Flash possibly and went with LotV's.
One more player and it would have been a T8 instead of T4 from what I hear. Maybe next time Wink

Everything is now edited into the first post (lists, pics, etc).

I own 2 real shops and 2 Vroman proxy shops, so I didn't really NEED a shop, so I figured I'd have some fun at this tourney.

I had "the Claw" all ready to go until the night before.

I threw together a bunch of lock peices, called it a Stax deck, and ripped the SB from that Catalain Shop deck with the Oath SB plan, and proceeded to play terribly all day long.

Round 1: GOBLINS!
Game 1: I lose the die roll and we play some stuff. Eventually I got SmokeStack and TangleWire down, and fail to tell my opponent to Sac, then Tap, and since he's new to Vintage, he tapped and sacked and smashed face.  On my turn, I sac, then tap my OWN permanents because I played that badly, and finally remember that it is "I" that am playing Stax, and I should "stack" things the right way and not suck.  So after getting myself down to 2 life, ramping SmokeStack up to 3 and so forth, I finally stabilize and get out of this terrible mess and somehow win game 1.
Game 2: He starts with Goblin Lackey, Shattering Spree's my Crucible and Mox  turn two, and we are off to game 3.  I at least got him confused with my SB Forbidden Orchard and hardcast Gaea's Blessing, but based on how bad I played game one, he might have chalked it up to me being just that bad (which I was)
Game 3: I Mull a 1 Mox 1 Tolarian Academy 1 Akroma hand into a 1 Mox hand into another 1 mox hand.  I go to 4. 1 Mox and 3 cards. I lose.  Well, I didn't really expect to win against Goblins anyways, but I did learn one valuable lesson: Throwing a deck together, having a transformational SB and not even GOLDFISHING pre or post board is a disaster.  Getting Akroma in your opening hand is MUCH WORSE than a similar thing in regular Oath decks.  They at least have Brainstorm.  It's like my deck gives me a Chuck Norris Roundhouse Kick to the Head just for putting it together.

Round 2: Scrublands Badlands Vampiric Tutor, Maze of Ith, and Swords to Plowshares.
I get Trinisphere, Welders, Jars, Bazaars, Mana, everything. I win. No SB since the above listed cards are all I saw of his deck.

Round 3: WorseThanGro
Game 1: He goes first, gets early double Kudzu's and rides them to victory.
Game 2: I get a Zillion lock peices into play (SmokeStack set to 1, Crucible, TangleWires, 3 Sphere's of Resistance, etc), but no kill.  Instead of scooping, he plays it out.  He's a good player and knows that I have to kill him more than he has to not lose (timed rounds).  Eventually I have a zillion life with my Crucible Fastbond Zuron Orb tech (I told you my deck was terrible) and Finally figured out that Bazaar of Baghdad can help me dig for the win (I Crop Rotationed for Mishra's Factory, but failed to include it in my maindeck). He finally scooped to DT for Karn.
Game 3: I get turn 2 Memory Jar to stick.  He scrolls for Force of Will and has a Quirion Dryad out.  I have 2 Welders in hand, but no red mana, so I crack Jar at his EOT and hope to get some red sources.
I see City of Brass and 6 other fantastic cards. I play Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Bait Sphere of resistance, Play SmokeStack and TangleWire, etc and pass the turn.  He plays two more fatties off Black Lotus swings for a few and passes the turn.
I pick up my hand of 2 Welders plus dumb stuff, see my field and notice that I totally played Urborg like a newb instead of City of Brass.  I probably forgot to stack the Lockpieces correctly as well. With a Welder on the field, I could have chumped his fatty Dryad twice until my SmokeStack ate his field, but I suck and I lose.

Round 4: Kataki Bob.dec
Game 1: He gets Kataki out and hits me 10 turns in a row.
Game 2: I sideboard into my Oath Plan just to try it out, and promply play 1st turn Chalice for 2.  I figure I'll let him not win yet, and when he bounces the Chalice, I'll just play Oath.  If I ever drew it, which I didn't. His Jotun Grunt(s) and Kataki took me out a few turns later.

Final record: 1-3.  All of Team Vacaville completely scrubbed out in a field of 2/3'rs newish to Vintage field.

I had a blast!
