Blank Foil Cards

All of my previously acquired knowledge of cards like these came from someone who talked the talk, but had a white bordered card, and not black bordered like this one.

Obviously, as I troll here and on SCG, I posted this on their Pimp Thread, but many TMD'rs don't follow SCG.

Does anyone know anything about how these cards came to be? Any accurate information? SOMEWHERE, I have a Wyvern Backed Knight of Leitbur (sp? Fallen Empires white pump knight), and I picked up some accurate information about that.  I have also read threads talking of the early days of foils (Textless Foil Serra Avatar from Japan or whatnot.)

Full Disclosure: I do not intend to sell this to anyone, it's mine unless it's worth a million bucks or something, but I WOULD like to know the story behind such cards.  I have seen at least one other Foil BB card, and I personally witnessed a kid open a blank BB non-foil card (which I traded for via Zur the Enchanter, and promptly mailed off to Vroman).

Because the way foils (pre-8th foils, anyway) are layered, I'm fairly certain you can just erase everything except the border to achieve an effect similar to the one in the video.

This is akin to those fake white bordered Expert level sets, where someone just erased the borders, only vice versa.

Oh yes you could easily do this. It would only take like 10 mins, and I have done it before.

No.  I have seen a non-foil black bordered blank card opened, but not this foil blank bb card.
 
My brother in law said that the foil blank had been in that kid's binder for liike, forever, and nobody wanted it.  I really don't think the kid is an "erase a Magic foil card" kinda kid.  (This is small town Utah we are talking about, where Multiplayer is king. Casual only)

I traded my brother-in-law's Beta Verderan Enchantress for the blank foil, and threw foil casual multiplayer goodness at my brother-in-law. All three of us were happy.

For what it's worth, I would hazard to guess that this is a machine error and not a human one.   This would probably make the value of such an oddity not worth as much, assuming that it wasn't altered after the pack was opened.
