Hi all.
Some of you may have come to my The Mana Clash 1 event some time ago. It was an overnight event where there were 5 rounds of Vintage and 5 rounds of Legacy. There was a cool Arabians, Antiquities, Revised Draft for the top 4 in each event. After all was said and done, Jermeiah Rudolph defended Vintage declaring once and for all which format was better. Or had he?
Enter The Mana Clash Open 2(Legacy vs Vintage- Day edition). I want to make what will go down in history as the greatest competion between Vintage and Legacy ever. All the stops will be cut out and bragging and trash talking should be at an time high. Here is how it is going to go down:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First the neccesary info: When: Sunday, January 13, 2008 Registration: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Tournies Starts PROMPTLY at 11:00 AM(To avoid a prolonged tournament, this will be strictly enforced. Latecomers will be subject to a round 1 loss.)
Where: Gamingetc Tournament Center and SuperStore 555 Lordship Boulevard (Exit 30 off I95) Stratford CT 06615 1-800-380-1115 or 203-849-0186
Lodgings: Ramada Inn 225 Lordship Boulevard Stratford, Ct 06615 203-375-8866
Dopeness Factor: A deck of 40 cards has four each of cards marked 1, 2, 3, ... 10. Two cards with the same number are removed from the deck. Dopeness Factor = the probability that two cards randomly selected from the remaining 38 have the same number as each other times 703
Cost: $25 Entry Fee -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, so here the real meat an potatoes info.
Vintage players, dust off those Legacy decks. Legacy players, prepare those mox proxies.
When you enter the event, you will either enter a Vintage Time Walk Event of a Legacy event for 1 of each Revised Dual Land. Whichever event you enter is your "affiliation". Each event will be run as a normal Vintage or Legacy event. Throughout the day, however, there will be several "grudge match" type events to pit all players with the Legacy affiliation versus all those with the Vintage affiliation. These include, but are not limited to: 1.) A game of magic trivia with only two big teams, Vintage and Legacy. 2.) The opportunity to act as "the spoiler", If anyone after round 2 wishes to drop from their event, they may do so, to be entered into one of two free single elimination side events, each for a pair of non-blue dual lands. You can drop from either event to enroll in either event. The catch: if you drop from the Vintage main event and enroll in the Legacy side event(you have to use a Legacy deck) or vice versa, you play in that tournament for normal prizes, but also as "a spoiler". If you have a legacy affiliation and knock out a vintage player in the vintage side event(or vice versa), you get a free booster in the round you do so. 3.) After the main events, the top two players from each event will play in an additional single game of two headed giant. The four decks of these players will be randomly assigned to the players so that each team has to play one vintage deck and one legacy deck(though the team can choose who plays which deck). The prize: Unparralleled recognition: Why? Whichever team wins, in addition to bragging rights, will have won everyone who is affiliated with that formate that is still at the venue a free booster pack.
Format 1: Vintage Proxies: 10 Proxies + $1 per proxy(15 proxies maximum) Based on 30 competitors: 1st Place: Unlimited Time Walk 2nd Place: Italian Mana Drain 3rd Place: Choice of Dual Land 4th Place: Choice of Non-Blue Dual Land 5-8th Place: Draft Set
Format 2: Legacy Proxies: None DCI Sanctioned: YES Based on 30 competitors: 1st Place: 1 of each Revised Dual Land 2nd Place: 4 Simplified Chinese Tarmogoyf 3rd Place: Tarmogoyf 4th Place: Thoughtsieze 5-8th Place: Draft Set
Prizes will be increased as attendance does.
Vintage vs. Legacy Magic Trivia(Free with Prizes for all participants)
Free Side event for Vintage for 2 non-blue duals. Free Side event for Legacy for 2 non-blue duals.
The store stocks a huge selection of singles and will be selling pizza, soda and other refreshments during the day.
I'm sure there will be plenty of questions so feel free to barage me with them.
Cya there. Ray
P.S.- Don't forget to check out the awesome Myriad Games tourney happening in Salem, NH the day before. It should be awesome.

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was. I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury. I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Okay...I listened to some people who mentioned that Reset was kind of a lame prize for 2nd place fot the Legacy event.
Ok...how about this.
Second place is now 4 Simplified Chinese Tarmogoyfs.
Okay...pick your mouth up off the floor and start planning to be in Stratford for this event.

Have you thought of a different tourney, more like one organized by WoTC, in which you would have several rounds of Legacy, and several rounds of Vintage? Just like Worlds, but with 2 formats. Maybe it could be too long, but you could divide it in 2 days, and organize several alternative-tourneys for those who doesn´t make the cut the first day. You could copy the idea for some Waterbury, if it does work and if it receives positive feedback. Or you could even create one anual Waterbury Worlds for old formats!

So I have some minor news.
I ordered and won on ebay 4 Simplified Tarmogoyfs about 4 weeks ago.
The last few days as they still didn't come in the mail I got worried so I contacted the seller. Turns out he was lazy and didn't send them out until after the new Year(Jan 5th to be exact.)
They are currently working there way through customs. Feel free to track them along with me at USPS.com. Tracking number RR507749667CN
What this means is that the 4 simplifed Tarmogoyfs will still be second prize for the Legacy event, but that I will not likely have them for Sunday.
Obviously, whomever wins them will have them sent priority mail the same day that they arrive. I feel I have enough of a reputation that people could trust me. As a matter of fact, I am going to include some extra goodies with said package so you actually get more for waiting about a week for the goyfs.
I have had people win my events before that were using the point system, and rather than claim a prize they simply asked me to find a buy a specific item and send it to them. This is sort of the same thing.
I do, however, understand if someone see this as bunk, and so that is why I am posting right now, to let anyone who might be put off by this seller's laziness, and not want to go to the event now. It is only fair to let you know the status.
I apologize for any inconvienance this may have caused, but I give you my word: second place in the Legacy event WILL get their 4 Simplifed Tarmogoyfs just as quickly as I can get them to them.
