The Dutch Vintage Tournament Results (December 02, 2007)

Hi all,

It all started a few month’s ago. I was browsing the internet looking for some nice tournaments, but could not find any. Normally people will wait till there is one, but I had the feeling something needed to happen. I contacted a Rudy’s Magic Backpack (a large trader) and asked him of he was interested in sponsoring a Vintage tournament. After a few phone calls we agreed on a guaranteed price support with a Mox Jet as main price. Because I wanted to play also, I needed 2 good judges. 2 friends of mine where willing to judge, both had a good knowledge about the rules and especially the Vintage rules. So with everything in order the date was set at December 02, 2007.

Off course, other people had the same idée about the fact their where not enough tournaments, so in the end there are 3 Vintage tournaments in 3 weeks. I’m glad so many people are interested in vintage around here, so to everybody, Keep UP the Good works.

The Tournament

09.00 In the mourning. I get out of bed and I’m nervous for the tournament. It is the first one I organize so I hope all goes well.
At 10.00 in the mourning I arrive at the location and see that already some friends of mi are waiting. We go inside and prepare the room for the tournament. A friend of mine brought the program DCI reporter, we tried to install it but that didn’t work because there was no internet. I rushed home to make sure the program got installed and worked.
10.30 The first people are register for the tournament and the room is full of people.
I relax a bit, the show up is nice and the total player count is 41.
11.30 The tournament starts. It is a six round tournament with a single elimination top 8. So all you people are dying to see the top 8 list. Oke, here come the standings after 6 rounds of Swiss.

Hey Arjan,
Thanks for posting the decklists. Eventhough I didnt do as well as I hoped I still had a blast. Keep organizing vintage tournaments in the future because we need all the chances we get to play with broken magic cards Smile
If all goes well I will be attending the next tourny as well and I might get a chance to play you the 16th of december in Hengelo!!

Many thanks!!

Hi,

Thanks a lot for posting decklists! I'll put a link in my report. Thanks for hosting the tournement. It was a lot of fun and well organized. You were a great opponent: fun and playing well. Are there going to be more of these tournements?

If people are interested to read how I fared with my GAT list, click here.

Hey Arjan,

I really had a blast at the tournament, I'll be there come march (After playing my first vintage tournament I can say this is really my format)
There really where enough people for a really great day (wich it turned out to be).
As you can read in your tournament report there really where a lot of GAT and STAX decks there wich made for most of the meta game.
I really expected a to see ichorid a couple of times but I guess nobody thought about running the deck in a meta with that much hate for the deck Wink

And the price support was really super (thanks too rudi)

Maybe you could get some more of the community envolved into these kind of events...

all I can say is:
Great tournament Arjan so keep up the good work

Greetz.

Thanks for posting the top 8 lists. I found out that the lists of Goswin and Steve miss a card each.

The RGu list is interesting. No fetchable blue mana seems a bit random. Should Anc and Walk only be cast with artifact mana?

Hi Arjan,

Thanks for posting t8 lists!

There's one mistake in my list: i played 0 mire and 2 strand because i didnt have any mires and already used all of my 12 proxies. And my last name is Keijzer, not Keyzer Wink

Thanks again for hosting the tournament and ill be there in march.

Duncan

Ps. I'm still working on my report. I hope i can post it here tonight, but it might become saturdays.

Glad to see the RG getting some love.  If the RG player from this tournament stops in, let me know how the time walk was for you please.  I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the deck in general.

Depends where you come from, but I think it'd be Eindhoven Airport (I live like 10 mins from it). Otherwise, Schiphol(Amsterdam) is also a possibility, as the public transport is good in .Nl
