I've tested Super Long versus Tyrant Oath a little.
I know that more seasoned players might not have much of a problem with it, but it was a challenge for me. I also recognize that I didn't have a tuned SB as I'm still playing around with the main deck. This meant that my games 2-3 were not helped out.
That said, the usual "don't let Oath resolve" is still true with this deck. However there is a host of other cards that you don't want to resolve now and some that are a judgement call/pain in your balloon knot because Oaths playing like a combo deck now.
Oath
Tinker (dropping in a 4/4 Robot and then protecting this game plan is possible for them)
Yawg's Will (early and late, depending on what's in the yard)
Moxen (not only are they accelerants, they are also combo pieces!! so it's a judgement call here)
Krosan Reclamation is a card to watch out for if you are going for a Will kill and he smells it. On the other hand, it can also be huge for them as well. It's not a definate must counter, just be wary.
Research/Development I played extirpate in game 2 it worked out fairly well, snagging an Oath with Duress....soooo...game 3 he sided in Research/Development T.T not only did it keep him in the game, but it also allowed him to grab utility...watch...I ran 2 Tendrils so I could mini Tendrils him and draw bigger off a resolved necro I was planning for...game 3 he plays research/development and grabs HIS erxtirpates from the board and extirpates Tendrils O.O!!!
Fastbond is another possible bomb. Much for the same reason that GAT likes the card, so does this Oath build. So depending on what he has he might try and drop it as bait, or he might be dropping it and accelerate the crap out with mana, and then abuse it when he has a Gush in hand or he might have a gush....you get the picture here.
My friend was running the list as reported by a 1st place finish in the netherlands
http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=35097.0The issue I had was that he had a sizable amount of bombs and also ways to get back in the game, all the while having enough counters to go toe to toe in counter wars with me. The first match he got me two straight.
What I found worked was, throwing bombs at him and then using top deck tutors with Ponder/Brainstorm love to grab the real game ending bomb. IE turn 1 Duress pass, then turn 2 Dark Ritual into necro while holding tutor. During this match I got him two straight. It feels like a classic move, get your opponent to blow his counters on bait cards, don't get into a counter war and then drop the bomb, and counter war with the guy knowing you've got more counter back up.
In these games my friend knows my playstyle and trys to throw it back at me, knowing that he is also playing a combo deck. I feel that that is key to playing against Tyrant Oath, realize you are playing against a Combo deck, NOT traditional Oath.
Sorry if that feels long winded for you, or if it doesn't help you at all.
