I've read about an ichorid deck, that uses mana and cards like breakthrough, in a couple of places now. It seems like this form of the deck would be a lot more interesting to play and was wondering if anyone had a list that I could try out.

The extended Dredge list uses colored mana and breakthrough/tolarian winds. I don't think anyone has tried it in vintage because Manaless Ichorid is just more explosive.

In Smmenen's new article he plays against an ichorid deck with mana in the first round. And I think Tommy Kolowith played an ichorid deck with mana at the ICBM open and placed first. So it's showing up a little bit, at least. Anyone have a deck list, or some idea of what would be different between the extended and vintage version of the deck?

From the Sandusky Second Saturday Tournament in January... This deck is similar to two decks played at the recent Meandeck Open in Columbus.  After the tournament, Jeff said that if he'd had Leyline of the Void available to him he could have gone farther.  As it was, he still top 8'd.

Jeff Blystone - UB Mana Ichorid

1x Darkblast
4x Breakthrough
4x Stinkweed Imp
3x Putrid Imp
4x Golgari Grave-Troll
4x Bazaar of Baghdad
2x Golgari Thug
1x Flamekin Zealot
2x Ichorid
1x Akroma, Angel of Wrath
1x Cephalid Sage
4x Bridge from Below
4x Cabal Therapy
4x Narcomoeba
3x Dread Return
1x Lotus Petal
1x Black Lotus
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Mox Jet
3x Polluted Delta
1x Bloodstained Mire
1x Island
4x Underground Sea
1x Tropical Island
2x Bayou
1x Life from the Loam
1x Ancestral Recall

Sideboard
4x Chain of Vapor
3x Hurkyl's Recall
4x Reverent Silence
2x Darkblast
1x Tropical Island
1x Echoing Truth

The deck really relies on Narcomoeba to fuel pretty much everything, to the point where Ichorid could maybe be cut.  In Columbus, the two decks found room for Brainstorm, with which you can put drawn Narcomoebas back on top of your library.  I'm not sure how the splash of green for Life from the Loam worked out; most other builds have been UB, similar to the Ichorid lists from when it first debuted last spring.

Wanted to bump this up as I've been hearing more and more about Mana Ichorid.  This is the last list i saw:

http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=35425.0

// Lands
    1  Underground Sea
    3  Cephalid Coliseum
    3  City of Brass
    4  Bazaar of Baghdad
    4  Gemstone Mine

// Creatures
    1  Flame-Kin Zealot
    1  Angel of Despair
    1  Cephalid Sage
    3  Ichorid
    3  Golgari Thug
    4  Narcomoeba
    4  Stinkweed Imp
    4  Golgari Grave-Troll

// Spells
    4  Cabal Therapy
    1  Lion's Eye Diamond
    4  Careful Study
    1  Black Lotus
    1  Ancestral Recall
    4  Breakthrough
    1  Lotus Petal
    1  Mox Sapphire
    3  Dread Return
    4  Bridge from Below

// Sideboard
SB: 3  Emerald Charm
SB: 4  Chain of Vapor
SB: 4  Leyline of the Void
SB: 4  Contagion

I drew the deck a few times and I like it more than Manaless Ichorid.  With the multiple draw options, it's just much easier to chain dredgers and dump your library. However, if you go with non-Bazaar land + Breakthrough/Careful Study, a FOW can screw you hard without Bazaar to fall back on.

Mana Ichorid is faster but Force of Will, Duress, Thougtseize, Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst and Trinisphere can all be somewhat problematic.
Mana Ichorid is better at playing through Wasteland though and that is a big plus.

The other weakness is that Mana Ichorid runs fewer anti combo cards.  Manaless Ichorid can run 4 Unmask, 4 Leyline of the Void and 4 Chalice of the Void, while Mana Ichorid only has the Leylines in the board.  This makes game 1s against Flash, Long and even decks like Tyrant Oath much scarier.

Also, Mana Ichorid (almost) doesn't care about pithing needle. And that's HUGE.
