We'll be hosting another sanctioned Vintage side event at this tournament. This is a Free side event for this tournament. Beginning as the Top 8 starts, we'll be hosting a single elimination sanctioned Vintage tournament. Prizes will be awarded as usual with our Free Bonus side events. The event will be sanctioned provided that we have 8 players. So prepare your sanctioned deck and bring it along for another chance at some free prizes!

No Offense Dan, but with the other thread, gotta ask. This month at your Saturday march 8th:
"Top 4: Total of over $400 Myriad Money 5th – 8th Places: Total of over $100 Myriad Money"
Another $100 drop in prizes for the top four? For $25 a piece, you're giving out $400?
/sadpanda.

For the benefit of those folks who were not following the discussion on prize structures, I'll repost my comments from that thread here. Myriad Games continues to offer consistent quality monthly Vintage tournaments as we have for years. We guarantee a prize payout that scales with attendance, which creates a fair and stable prize structure. In order to continue to offer consistent quality events, there must be financial incentive to do so. When you remove the pecuniary incentive of running an event, the availability of events suffers. We can all remember times when Vintage events have been much less regular than they are now. While certain individuals may volunteer time and effort to plan, organize, and run a tournament, it is incongruous to expect any professional enterprise to operate on a charitable basis. We can credit the vibrant nature of New England Vintage to tournament organizers that operate in a professional manner in service of an outstanding community of players who are happy to attend events for the fun of the friendly competition playing a game we all enjoy. Myriad Games also offers two free side events (sanctioned Vintage and Liar's Dice) with prizes in addition to the prizes for top place. While we can understand that certain players would prefer that prizes were more focused on the Top 4 or Top 8, the majority of players attending our events will not fall into those categories. Our diversified, scaling prize structure provides prizes for more than just the top places and ensures a fun and enjoyable event for all who attend. Also, be sure to preregister to be entered in our drawing for a free Preregistration Bonus Prize!

You got it! We'll add you to the preregistration list. Anyone can preregister by posting in this thread, PMing myriadgames, emailing vintage@myriadgames.com, or calling (603) 681-0355. Also a reminder that registration begins at 11:00, our regular opening time, so you can sleep in for an extra hour as compared with our previous 10:00 registration start time. Decklists are still due at the beginning of Round 1, promptly at 11:30.

Tax emergency FTL. I've got to make a trip to my accountant tomorrow to clear up some tax nonsense. Since Income Tax is one of my least favorite things, I'm pretty bummed here. This is especially hurtful since I had a Ron Paul Deck name ready:
Ron Paul once made love on the hood of a Mac Truck. Some of his seed made it's way into the engine. That truck is now called Optimus Prime.

How did this go? I heard there were 6 rounds of swiss, so it sounds like a strong turn out. Glad to hear the bashing of other TO's that took place on TMD didn't impact things. Needless to say, I would have much rather been playing for Myriad Money than resolving tax issues. I look forward to seeing who/what made Top 8, and what the metagame looked like.

39 players attended including a bunch of new players and everyone had a great time. The event ran smoothly through six rounds of swiss, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, finishing up around 8:00 PM. Jeremiah Rudolph took 1st place with Mono Blue Phid. Full tournament report will be coming later this week. Thanks again to everyone who attended. We'll look forward to seeing everyone at our Back-to-Back Eternal Weekend on May 17th and 18th. We'll have a Vintage on Saturday, May 17th and a Legacy on Sunday, May 18th.
