This build has been testing very well and i have high hopes for it in the type 1 field/metagame.  Any and all comments or idea's are welcome, and would you classify this deck as Hate? Control? Aggro? Or any combination of those three? I don't want to go into details as to why my choices for the main deck and the sideboard are the way that they are except to say that they all seem to me to work very well. Any feedback is welcome or pointers or criticism thanks.....

Some random thoughts:

- I really don't see why you're not running wastelands in that deck, and I'm not sure that sol ring and manacrypt are better than off-color moxen or additional lands.
- 8 Duress effects seems like a lot, as do 3 illusionary masks.
- Did you find the singleton needle (without trinket mages) to be worth the slot?
- Where are the strip effects to go along with those stifles?

I think a solid step forward would be replacing any of those cards I mentioned with 2-4 wastelands and a strip mine. They can buy you the turn(s) you need to seal the deal in a lot of close games.

A friend of mine run a similar deck last tournament and was very pissed after 'cause chalice @ one completely rapes your deck. Another buddy finished the same tounament at 1st with running tarmogoyf and the trinket mage toolbox instead of all the masks and leaving a single 'nought in the deck. He told me after the final that he was unsatisfied with the Loam and the single counterbalance and maybe will run more of them next time. We create his base-SB on the way to the tournament but the will remains in SB because he can't imagine to play Vintage without will so at least he want's to waste the SB slot for it.  Very Happy Moreover I tried to shift the spellbomb MB but he refuses ... he payed for it  Very Happy  To make it short I post the top 8 link with Carlo's list below.

Any reason you're not running the off-color Moxen?  They make turn 1 Stifle/Nought or turn 1 Mask much much easier.  I've actually been working on cutting the Strips as well; they usually do nothing and they slow you down.

It looks like a very clean list to me.  I actually haven't had much trouble with Chalice 1, given that no one locally runs Shops, but also due to your 3 Masks and 4 Confidants that play through it.  I'm pretty sure 8 Duress effects is too many; I'd probably cut it down to 6.  Have you looked at Ponder at all?  Hunted Horror is pretty bad; I'd probably cut it.  It's an Aggro deck.  The heavy disruption component is just what Aggro needs to run now to be competitive.

I do like the Dazes; I've been thinking of running those.  I would DEFINITELY cut Sol Ring for a Mox; possibly cut Mana Crypt for another one.

I have been working on a dreadnought list recently as`well. I really like the way naught fish ( 1 dreadnought, trinket mages) plays out, but I hate how inconsistent the dreadnought is. I took a peak at gunslingas site, And I liked the list a lot. The only part I did not like was the Cutpurse. There are a lot of creatures running around lately, and there is no doubt in my mind that this trend will continue, thanks largely in part to painters servant, cursecatcher, and sygg.

So instead of trying to milk card advantage, I thought that just increasing the clock would be much more beneficial, and the natural evolution of my idea was to toss some goyfs in. It sort of merges the two decks. For further discussion, here is the list I've been working with:

4 polluted delta
3 tropical
3 ug sea
2 island
1-2 flooded strand
1-2 waste
1 strip

2 lotus (petal)
4 mox

4 dark confidant
4 dreadnought
3-4 tarmogoyf
3-4 Cursecatcher

3 illusionary mask

4 force of will
4 stifle
4 duress/thoughtseize
2 daze

4 brainstorm
2 ancestral walk

This is of course post shadowmoor with the inclusion of cursecatcher. I really want to find room for some removal, but the list seems so tight. Maybe a mask, And only rn 3 of each of the cursecatcher and goyf. That would open up two slots. With the force, catcher, and daze, maybe duress/thoughtseize could be cut by one, and the rest would reside in the side.

The only cards that come to mind to put in are:
demonic tutor
removal (engineered explosives)
jitte
ponder

What do you guys think about the list?

I played around with the same idea to up the count of big dudes in the deck, as the RG Beatz and Goblins matchup already has been not the best one and gets a big boost by having a few Goyfs togehter with the Dreadnoughts. You just have to watch out not to cut to much on the disruption side for that and so have to many pretty dead cards in certain matchups like Goyfs against Oath or Flash.

I already do play three Dazes as they perfectly fit your mana denial elements and help to protect all your two drops like Stifle/Nought, Mask or Confidant. As plenty of the top decks in the moment play powerful two mana play as well - Flash, Oath, Scroll - Daze seems to be a perfect secondary counter spell in this deck, as you can outtap and still counter their stuff.

I personally would never go under four strip effects. The mana denial part has won me a good amount of games as well and I don't want to miss this strategical flexiblity to switch roles. Also: Going down with the strip effects weakens a good part of your deck. Especially Stifle loses a lot of its sexiness it got through the Dreadnought errata. Wasteland is imo the natural partner of Stifle. Without enough strip effects, stifling a fetch land gets much more random and uneffective, while being very effective together. Also: Wastelands do strengthen even more all the Dazes and Cursecatchers you might think of adding to this deck.

I think at least Demonic Tutor and one sort of removal are mandatory for this deck - and Echoing Truth probably is the one to go with. Otherwise there a quite a few moves you are very vulnerable to - let's say Tinker/Platz. I always played Demonic/Vampiric and Echoing Truth/Explosives and felt very well equipped with this package against everything.

I am with Gunslinga here, that the off color Moxen are better than Sol Ring and Mana Crypt as almost all of your powerful plays need one colored and one colorless mana. The Petal can be a nice addition.

Thanks for all the reply's and to give you some feed back i agree that more on color moxen may be really solid. Chalice for 1 is a sad day for me but decks that run it are really almost nonexistant in the metagame in my area. Possibly 8 pieces of disruption may be a bit heavy but they sideboard out very easy. Hunted Horror is a little sub-par but i like it more than Goif because it's a 7/7 trampler for 2. Everything in the deck cost's 1 or 2 so i have scaled down the mana base and i have a hard time trying to support the land destruction. Thanks for the suggestion's and keep em coming thank's
