Agure the wrath of god
Starring Klaus Kinsky
directed by Werner Herzog.

I recently just re watched it again and it blows my mind every time. If you see some of the interviews surrounding this movie in other films (like my best fiend, or random interviews) you realize just how crazy they were to even attempt this film let alone, that more people didn't die while filming it. I also love when life imitates art and that is essentially what happend on the filming of this, they ran out of money and food, their crew were deserting and it looked like they would all die in the jungle, just like the characters in their movie that they were trying to portray.

The Third Man is also one of my all time favorites.

It's sort of hard to suggest movies when there isn't something to go off. Both of these movies are in a lot of peoples top 10's and are on the list of must watch movies for a lot of movie geeks, so i don't know if suggesting them is helpful or insulting. Maybe you could post a short list of things you have seen that are on most peoples top ten's that aren't obvious so you don't get duplicate suggestions.

Sublime is one of my all time favorites that most people have never heard of.  I'll look through my library tonight to see if I have any other off-the-wall suggestions (I'm pretty sure I do, it's just that some of them are well known like American Psycho), otherwise I would suggest checking out the remake of Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp, it was pretty good.

Another new movie would be "Meet the Spartans", it was pretty funny, even for a spoof movie.

I'd rather not attempt to make a list of movies Wink It would be very time consuming and so far there seems to be some movies i've missed! Smile

Don't worry, i won't get insulted no matter which movie you guys suggest Smile

What?  I laughed.  ... at least it was better than all of the "scary Movie" spoofs.

Anyways, a list that you may have missed and I found good:
The 13th Warrior
Big Trouble in Little China
The Burbs
Cube
Cube 2
The Devil's Rejects
Donnie Darko
Explorers (with River Phoenix and Ethan Hawk)
From Hell
The Ghost in the Darkness (Very Highly Recommended)
Hard Candy (greatly recommended)
House
House II (these are both comedy horrors, some of the first of the genre.  Very good movies)
Idle Hands
Jeepers Creepers
Killer Clowns from Outer Space
A Man Apart
Man on Fire
Maximum Overdrive
Memento (highly recommended)
Payback
Sgt. Bilko
Strangeland (starring Dee Snider from Twisted Sister)
War (with Jet Li and Jason Statham)

All of these are foreign films save like 3-4.

[Rec]
Audition
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Oldboy
Batman Beyond Return of the Joker - Uncut
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Bangkok Dangerous (The original, not the most-likely horrible nick cage remake)
District B13
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
Seven Samurai
2LDK
City of God
Leon
Infernal Affairs
The Longest Day
The Taking of Pelham 123

Decent list of films I'd say, without including anything too out there like BR or Visitor Q or stuff like that.

City of God is spectacular, and The Longest Day is a classic if you have never seen it.  Any particular genres you like, such as foreign (non-american anyway), war, comedy, western, etc?  I can suggest some stuff but it would be good to get a range of what you're looking for other than just 'movies'.

Depending on your tastes, Lars and the real girl was an excellent movie that I just saw.  I now respect Ryan Gosling as an actor.

Full Metal Jacket is my fave.
The Crow- Can be watched a million times plus the best soundtrack ever.
The Long Riders
Tank Girl
The Outsiders
Kelly's Heroes
White Men Can't Jump
Ghostdog
Boyz in the hood
Garden State
Easy Rider
Pathfinder---pretty gory and it had Vikings

Geez so many great movies I can't think of them all.

Thanks guys!

Several of you have asked me to narrow it down, but i see that as counter-productive as i watch just about anything that's good.
My favorit genre is probably Sci-Fi but i'm pretty sure i haven't missed anything there, I have watched:
Every alien movie
Predator
Blade runner
Star wars 1-6
The matrix
I, robot
Terminator 1-3
X-files the movie
X-files the series (So far i've watched season 1-5)
Firefly
Serenity
Close encounters of the third kind
Doom (Sadly)
The fifth element
The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
Mars attacks!
Independence day
Starship troopers
Forbidden planet
War of the worlds
AVP 1-2

And i've probably forgotten about some.

Looks like there's still alot of movies for me to watch! Excellent.

Also excellent.  First time I've seen Colin Farrell and not just wished he would drop dead in the middle of the movie for being a huge tool.

I just watched Joyeux Noel. A film about the unofficial cease fire on Christmas Eve in 1914. I loved it, but that could be the history major in me.

If are you a big movie buff, I think its worth it to take a class on classic cinema or to buy a book on great old films.

I really enjoy the 1940s classics like the Haward Hawks films, etc.   I also love the German Expressionism era with all those creepy old films.

I'm also a HUGE fan of the David Lean films.   I highly recommend Laurence of Arabia, Bridge On the River Kwai, and Dr. Zhivago.

Other good classics:

The Hustler
Bonnie and Clyde
Cool Hand Luke
Citizen Kane (it actually is that good)

Good Movies: City of God, The Namesake, Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Rescue Dawn, factory girl,  (trying to think of non mainstream suff)

But i serously just recomend renting season 1 of californication (its only 2 discs total)

Well, since i'm danish i do know some of those movies, but to be honest i'm not a big fan of trier.
And i didn't like Festen much (Dosn't it have an english title? feels kinda weird with a danish word in the middle of an english sentence)

I loved children of men for some reason, very nicely done.  Longest uncut action scene in movie history also (car chase).
