List your favorites!
Just to start it off, I don't want to just post a huge list, I love me some:
Necropotence (thanks in advance for never changing the artwork) Demonic Consultation (wicked) Demonic Tutor (so classic) Dark Ritual (most all of them are great but Urza's is my favorite) Yawgmoth's Bargain (something sinister going on there, i'm not sure what but it's cool)
Time Walk (tripped out) Timetwister (same here, looks freaking crazy, i think dude is being turned into one of those Time Walk guys..)

Dark Ritual (most all of them are great but Urza's is my favorite) I know a lot of people that like the saga art, but I can't stand it for some reason. My favorite Ritual is the one from 5th and Beatdown. I just wish I could get it BB. I also like the Ice Age Brainstorm better than the MM one. Know what art rocks the most? Goblin Grenade! in particular this one. j

Gifts Ungiven. It's unreal awesome and just about the only piece I'd want to hang on my wall.
The Homelands Merchant Scroll is great, the 8th-ed one, not so much. I don't know why they even gave it new artwork, the old one is much better.

Timetwister's artwork is awesome i think, but it only works for me if the twister is beta, it just dosn't look nearly as cool with whiteborders.
Yawgmoth's will got an interesting piece of art, that i really like - It looks like some creature turned inside out.
Judge Balance - I adore the artwork on the judge promo, it just looks awesome.
Mercedian masques brainstorm's looks fantastic aswell.
A shame that morphling isn't a stable anymore, the art is really cool, with the only difference from the 2 creatures on the picture being the tiny tail on the left creature.

I do have signed prints of Yawgmoth's Will, Mind's Desire, and Crucible of Worlds. I also have one of those Black Lotus Cells. As soon as I finish painting my office, they are going in there.

Yawgmoth's Will and Mind's Desire are my favorite artworks when it comes to magic cards. I also prefer the original Dark Ritual art.
I agree with Doug on Gifts Ungiven--the more I think and look at it, the more and more I like it. That wasn't a piece that had stuck out to me until he brought it to my attention now.

I think alot of the split-second and suspend cards have great art. Especially the homage cards like Wheel of Fate and Ancestral Vissions.
Not really "Staples" but my favorite art is the early of Quinton Hoover. Heavy Pen and Ink, almost comic booky. Some of my favories are: Krovikan Vampire Archangel Tragic Poet Wrath of God
Interesting Note about Wrath of God. I started playing magic when I was in like 5th-6th grade... right when 4th ed game out. For YEARS AND YEARS I always thought that the Art from the original Wrath of God was a picture of Jesus Tackling an army of guys. Look at the guy slightly to the left of center and tell me that doesn't look like Jesus just tackled that orc. I never noticed the little white face in the background, until like 2 years ago.

haha wow, that IS hilarious. GET EM JESUS!
RE: Goblin Grenade and Merchant Scroll, you know for all their faults FE and HL had some truly great artwork. I always loved Ron Spencer's version of Order of the Ebon Hand and one of the Hymn to Tourachs is really nice.

Unfortunately Magic has started to veer away from that style of art. Lately I have been collecting all the Puddnhead/Llewellyn cards, but now he isn't doing anything new. I think I will move on to Daarken.

I'd like to see a follow up to the Arabian Nights set using characters from the Arabian Nights universe that were not used in the first set. But here would be the rules for the set design: Only Commons and Uncommons All cards must be designed by Richard Garfield and cannot be subject to playtesting. Original card face. No foil cards. Only the artists from the Original set would be used for the follow up. None of the art work can be created on a computer or with an airbrush. "Creature -" would be changed back to "summon" Set must include a single Mountain.
