Haven't seen this elsewhere on the site: Nature's Spiral - 1G Sorcery Return target permanent card from your graveyard to your hand. Would be super nice if Gifts was unrestricted. This, Regrowth, Time Vault and Voltaic Key = win for 6GG. Will this get restricted in vintage? I'm not sure if Regrowth's ability to recur Ancestral and Walk is what puts it over the top? MTGSalvation Link: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=169358Why not just use it with Intuition? Basically it can get you the one combo piece you don't have in your hand. This is a very nice card IMO. peae, -Troy

I think 9 times outa 10, for decks looking to abuse Gifts/Intuition and TVKey you'd want Recontruction instead. I'm not sure the ability to sometimes get a land is really worth the colorshift AND extra mana.

That's very true, though Nature's Sprial can also recur Tezzeret.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.
Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops. I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

Newly spoiled on MTGS: Burning Inquiry R Sorcery C Each player draws three cards, then discards three cards at random. Jariad burned the midnight oil, burned through scroll after scroll, and then burned down his laboratory. Zoltan Boros & Gabor Szikszai This card seems potentially breakable. It's Goblin Lore or Control of the Court for a one mana discount that also works as disruption.

I'm not an expert, but that card see some play in Mana Ichorid?
You don't choose which cards to discard, which could be bad if you have a proportionally low amount of dredgers in hand.
It could also make your opponent their key hate card once in a while!

That thing would be considerably harder to Proxy on. Guess I'll have to stock up on Shards and before basics.

Though I recently "invested" in the foil full-frame basic Islands from Unglued (Unhinged, I don't even know... the Avon ones), I think this is really cool and a long time coming. Somewhat alleviates the addition of basic lands to boosters if you ask me. Can't wait to see art on the other basic land types.
Isn't every EDH player instantly going to want 10+ of each basic land in this frame?

I'm really sad at Magic for trying to trick me into buying new product right after I sold all but my assembled decks to the locally owned Hobbytown. Always wanted basic lands comparable to the Unglued set - now Wizards, now that I've all but totally cashed out of the game you drop this handsome shit on me? Fuck.

ok...those islands are super hot. I can't deny that. But look at how obnoxious they are! They should have made those as promos or something so that they won't be littering every single table at tournaments. I guarantee you that everyone will be sick of these after like a week. Whatever happened to Mark Poole styled islands, who more accurately picked up on the developer's hint of "Basic" Island?

These are nice islands, but I agree with Dianokov that the art is a bit over the top. I will be sticking with my current Islands, the John Avon beauties.

I will admit, I came once I saw those island. A bit awkward mind you since I am at work, but after an hour or so I realized they are going to be everywhere. Good to know they are going to make something this awesome a constant thing though. I would have to say, WOTC should get some serious props for doing this.

http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/mm/52Mark Rosewater's article of the Magic that was. A fun read if you are an oldschool player (ever had issues with roomates over ante games gone bad? heated debates over what Twiddle can and cannot do? "I Twiddle your Twiddle, so there!" happened in my meta once upon a time. Also, great read for those frustrated with MWS opponents just returning to the game from a 10 year hiatus. (the rules REALLY were that different back then) Enjoy.

I know, but its the best thing in some time... come on?, whats more powerful than an island?
Now, i can see some potential with "traps"... a good effect + a decent to good alternate cost con make a T1 playable.

It was bad enough when people would play Morph creatures and say the card was "in defense mode", now people are going to be shouting "...and that activates MY TRAP CARD"
heh I don't think it's a bad idea, it's just funny, that's all

This actually makes sense. When I used to play cards with kicker, upon announcing it I would say "kicking it" or something along that lines. I kind of like it.

http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/mm/53A whole lot of goodies in there. My thoughts: # Zendikar is a normal sized large set with the same number of cards as Shards of Alara (229 cards plus 20 full art lands) # Worldwake is a normal-sized small set with the same number of cards as Conflux (145 cards). It is an extension of Zendikar's mechanics—with a few new twists, of course. # "Prosper," the third set in the block, is a large set (229 cards plus 20 lands) taking place on the plane of Zendikar. A major event happens (the reason I'm not giving the name of the set yet is that it gives a big clue about what this event is) that forces the plane to fundamentally shift and leads to a new large set with brand new mechanics. Okay, so we have Kor dudes, and a fundamental shift. My first wild-ass guess: Zendikar takes place in the past, and the final set will have something to do with Rath. Zendikar was very much a chance for design to go somewhere we've never gone before. What is that theme? I'll give you a big hint.
What do full-art basic lands have to do with Zendikar's theme? It was already speculated that the mechanical theme would be "basic lands matter," like that one dino from Future Sight. But I'm thinking that it might be a "mono-card type" block. As in, you want to build a deck that's mainly all one type of card - all creatures, or all lands, or all sorceries. Beast Hunt bears this out, and in a way Whiplash Trap does too. As you can see, the returning mechanic is kicker. This is the mechanic I was talking about in my mysterious " [CENSORED] without [CENSORED] " quote. The second blank, though, will not be known until it premieres in Worldwake. I'm more confused than ever here. Kicker has only appeared in Invasion block, where the only other mechanic was...gating? Multicolor? Somehow neither of those seems right as the possible second CENSORED. Kicker without...? I'm at a complete loss.

Kicker without an effect? Maybe there'll be enchantments or creatures that gain a bonus any time a card is "kicked" as they say now. That would be kind of weird and parasitic, IMO, but plausable.
Peace,
