With first being a Mox Sapphire, and second being a foil Tezzeret the Seeker, we decided to play for the glory, but work a split for the Mox.  I ended up winning 1-0, and then his ride wanted to leave.  To be fair, I did beat him in the swiss.  *shrug* still a win in my book, I guess.

I will not be writing my own detailed report because I took terrible notes, but here is a rundown.


Round 1: Oath  2-0
Round 2: Painter (2nd Place list) 2-1
Round 3: danny Freidman 2-0
Round 4: Dan Carp ID
Round 5: Damien ( I had superior game state with Angels in play, but ID*ED [ID'ed not scooped, I wrote scooped accidently] as Dan Carp and I were trying to manipulate the final standings so we would be on seperate brackets)
Top 8:  RG 2-0 (game 1 I set up a quick keyvault, game 2 I resolve oath, key, and vault, and then blow up a pithing needle and go infinite
Top 4: GrimTendrils 2-1  (game 2 I resolve a Canonist, but take 12 points off my Mana crypt, and 3 random points elsewhere, and lose with 7 counterspells in hand... literally 7, but I pulled off game 3)
Finals:  I win game one by casting Ancestral Recall AND gifts Turn 1, and then on turn two casting Tinker to find voltaic Key, regrowthing tinker, and casting tinker for Time Vault, and then untapping it to go lethal.

Round 5: Damien ( I had superior game state with Angels in play, but scooped as Dan Carp and I were trying to manipulate the final standings so we would be on seperate brackets)

I know team vacaville has tried to do such stuff (if we were in a position to do it), but that was just to ensure a lesser member of team vacaville might make top 8, when say, an ID with a random opponent is all thats neccessary for the higher member to make it.

Care to enlighten us as to how this happened (so that others might be able to make more optimal scoopage/ID/Pwns)?

I'm not sure I want to start a thread on this, but I am curious as to the tourney state at that time.

I couldn't go to the PTQ at the last minute. They still could have stayed at my house. They could have called me.

After round 4, Dan and I were first and second seed with 10 points.  We wanted to make damn sure we were #1 and #2, and also wanted to help a friend of ours (Danny Friedman) not have to play either of us, and the standings showed that if Dan and I played it out with our opponents, there was a very large possibility Danny would come in 3rd or 4th, and not have to play either of us.   It turned out by the points though, that the the 9 pointers (3-1s) did draw, so even if I drew with Damien, I would have 11 points, and come in second.  It's very difficult to understand.  The reason to do it is because tournament brackets look like this:

So if Dan and I were #2 and #1, we would be on opposite sides on brackets, and not possibly meet until the finals.

Even though I went ahead and did horribly I had a good time over all and am glad Kurt got second. Truth be told we live about three hours from this event and while soly and him wanted to play it out I just wanted to get down the road and start heading home after we ate. So it was agree to a one match for 1st which soly won. The event ran smoothly as any event can. No major f ups and I had a blast. Chris the stores owner was nice and had a wide variety of cards. He told me he had an ancestral for another tournament he was going to do but no date as of yet just sometime in January.

Last but not least the proxy thing is true. if your deck has a lot of them you win it seems. Kurt was playing with around 30ish proxy's so it douse the trick LOL.

The tourny as a whole was good my play well lets just say the dredge match um i think i could of had a 5 year old step into my seat and do better well that is just how it goes.  Idk  thoughts in my head say i should go balls to the wall in 2 weeks but i am not sure with what.  I should just confuse everyone and play something even dumber lol but idk.  Though good to see soly win and well ya lol
